Last week in Baton Rouge 8 children were murdered in cold blood and it was barely noticed in NY/DC. At the WHCA dinner, one nut charged the magnetometers, was neutralized quickly, never got near the ballroom, + nobody seriously hurt. Enough MSM/politics self absorption.

I'm grateful that the President and his entourage are unhurt after this latest attack. May I raise my voice against the viciousness and tribalism that are so prevalent on the internet and that contribute mightily to the violence we see in our political culture. Can we please remember that it is possible to disagree with a politician's ideas without demonizing and de-humanizing him? Jesus commanded us to love our enemies, and that includes our ideological opponents.

Went to Mass at a very good N.O. parish today and the homily was about discerning priesthood. It was a great homily, but sadly literally all servers at this Mass were girls. Very obviously part of the problem, so I thought the pastor wasted a good opportunity to mention that.

Factually false. We have a violence problem, and when it comes to political murders it is disproportionately right wing.
But let’s start with addressing gun violence, oh wait YOUR party dismantled all the infrastructure we had for that.

This is garbage. Every data set you look at shows that political violence (especially that involving fatalities) has been mostly a rightwing problem over the past twenty years. (Property-directed political action is usually more of a problem on the left than the right.)
This holds true even if you remove the problematic methodologies and assumptions (e.g., classifying Islamists and prison skinheads as rightwing) used in some of the studies conducted by ideologically-motivated organizations.
More recent data show that this longer-term trend may be reversing as leftwing activity rises in volume and targeted lethality. Data from 2025 and later is still emerging and will provide a more complete picture.
It's useful to remember that political violence is still a tiny percentage of all fatal violent crime. Racially and ethnically-motivated violence is far more common.
