Socialism fails because you can't calculate without prices. Mises destroyed this fantasy in 1920 — central planners literally cannot know what to produce or how much without market signals. Venezuela burned through $1 trillion in oil wealth. The Soviet Union collapsed despite controlling half of Europe. What about the incentive problem? When you divorce effort from reward, productivity craters. Why work hard when your neighbor gets the same paycheck for doing nothing? (Cuba's sugar harvests dropped 75% after collectivization.) Private property rights create the feedback loops that make prosperity possible. Every socialist experiment ends the same way: shortages, corruption, and people fleeing to capitalist countries. The Berlin Wall kept people IN, not out.

@MidwestGolfJake I had a chance to watch him a few times as a young kid at the Colonial South course in Memphis. He was as graciously entertaining as any pro I've ever seen on the PGA Tour.

Best golf celebration? Most people will say Tiger's fist pump. Tiger doesn't hold a candle to Chi Chi Rodriguez. This takes forethought and practice to celebrate this well.

Heck, I remember watching a little old lady in front of me (6 ft at the time LOL) getting accosted by a young cashier at Trader Joe's in my suburban small conservative town for accidently getting too close to another customer in front of her. I looked at the cashier and said, "You've got to be kidding me!" Crazy times.

Remember the start of the pandemic? Cops chased people who paddled in the ocean, sat alone in cars, or played catch outdoors. Swimmers were ordered to wear masks in pools. It’s important we don’t forget how AUTHORITARIAN politicians are eager to be:

@ggreenwald It is a possibility, Glenn. Sadly, it'll take several years or more for the "fog of war" to dissipate enough to know whether it was a smart play or not. I hope history proves America's action in Iran (this time) to be correct.

@CynicalPublius The threat of loss hasn't gone away indefinitely...it's merely pushed back a little waiting for the next opportunity to strike back with alarming ferocity.

America was nearly lost to a cabal of NGOs, think tanks, foundations, specialty media organizations, compromised mainstream media organizations, quasi-governmental organizations and all other manner of other well-funded (often with taxpayer dollars) players dedicated to preserving extra-governmental controls over the average American, all outside the scope of what Americans vote for. The men and women behind these organizations claim to want to benevolently advance public policy, when in reality their singular purpose is to maintain and grow the nefarious personal power they have achieved. Above all else they must defend their fiefdoms, the good of the nation be damned. When reformers try to undo any part of this cabal, those reformers are inevitably smeared, libeled, slandered and threatened. The goal is to prevent them from engaging in that necessary reform by intimidating them into silence. Food for thought.

@SenSanders Don't need robots. We already have many well-produced YouTube videos on a wide range of topics that can be replayed repeatedly into infinity. I've increased my personal "talent stack" for free by curating hundreds of channels to help me in countless ways.

Call me a radical, but NO. We should not be replacing teachers in America with robots. We should attract the best and brightest in our country to become teachers and pay them the decent wages that they deserve.

Melania: The future of AI is personified. It will be formed in the shape of humans. Very soon, artificial intelligence will move from our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility. They fit well. Imagine a humanoid educator named Plato

@caroljsroth Gotta love Elizabeth Warren and her vastly superior knowledge of economics and finance vs. the rest of us trained Econ/Fin experts. Don't you know that everything she posts to social media informs you of the EXACT opposite of what really works. She's a national treasure.

The great sin of Donald Trump is that in his second term he rejected all of the "experts" and brought in outsiders to fix the havoc and damage wreaked by the "experts." And golly gee do the "experts" hate it. At this point we have a cadre of failed "experts" doing everything they can to sabotage the vitally necessary reform of their sins. Pretty much everything happening in American politics today can be understood through this prism.

@brithume The Economist has always leaned to the Left since I started reading it over 4 decades ago, but the past decade and a half it's evolved into an anti-American leftist rag.

"We will chop off their heads." "We will lead the army of Allah." "We will subject them to eternal torture." These are Muslim children in an AMERICAN school in Philadelphia! The Western world needs to understand Islam before it is too late.

They can charge those prices because Augusta National is already richer than most countries and every year they get good brand cred due to posts like this. (They’re also making it back times ten at the merch store)

I know it’s impossible to get a ticket but why can’t teams charge for food or drinks like the Masters does? One of the most historical events ever charging $8.00 for beer and a chicken sandwich at most when a team 45 games under .500 charging you $54. Make it make sense. Make going to a sporting event affordable

The government is just the mafia, with the illusion of choice. You get to select which handpicked puppet will launder your tax dollars. Plus, the mafia lends you money that you are never able to pay back, kind of like our national debt.

@CoachDanGo Agreed. One HUGE benefit (according to my cardiologist) is that working out quickly between sets is terrific for improving heart health. Tough to accomplish when you're socializing with a friend without coming across as an azzhat. LOL

🚨WTF : Lincolnshire Church of England primary school allegedly forced 7-year-old children (none Muslim) to perform full Islamic prayers to Allah in RE lesson. “We did prayers to Allah yesterday,” one girl told her father. Pupils were shown a demonstration video then told to kneel, bow heads & copy the movements themselves. Angry parents reported it to Lincolnshire Police. School unnamed amid backlash fears. Disgraceful.
