@BarsottiKlb @ggraham @2024dion Geoff is 100% correct. It is hypocritical to lament this highway and then also criticize public engagement or community input, for instance. Lack of community input gets us freeways through our neighborhoods.

As a reminder, all of these painful examples resulted from federal intervention in land use.
America’s wonderful buildings and neighborhoods were largely bottom up creations, and their annihilation has always come from the top down.
You improve your community by investing your own time and resources into it, and you destroy a place by investing other people’s time and recourses into communities that are neither yours nor theirs and for which neither you nor they could care less.

There it is, a "public-private partnership"! The way public-private stadium partnerships work is the public partner pays the cost and the private partner keeps the revenue. It's impossible to devote $1.8 billion of public resources without having an impact on the state budget.
