Bills could be cut by up over £200 a year by stopping gas setting the price of energy in the UK. Government could do this now as part of a series of measures to insulate us from the shockwaves of this war. This isn't a time for half-measures, we need serious action and fast.
Common Wealth@Cmmonwealth

Today we argue the Government should pass “emergency legislation and instruct the National Energy System Operator to act as a single buyer of power”. This would decouple electricity prices from gas. Our latest report discussed in the @NewStatesman. newstatesman.com/politics/uk-po…

@robhawkes Scope is much wider I imagine. I've had my heat pump for 11 months now but wasn't on the Cosy tariff (I am now)

Random Internet person: "But this one unsubstantiated datapoint about a single heat pump that 'someone I know' / my plumber mate / [insert random third-party here] says they're shit" How about real, near-realtime data from every single one of the many thousands of real Cosy heat pumps already installed by Octopus Energy in real homes? That's a really big dose of real. That's what we've done with the Cosy Heat Pump Fleet Performance Dashboard, released today. Let's talk about what the data says right now, not some hypothetical argument about what it might say tomorrow. Why hide behind marketing speak and hypotheticals when we can show you what the real data says about real heat pump installations in real homes? There aren't many energy suppliers out there who will go out of their way to put data like this out for the public to see. And when the request for this transparency comes right from the top, you know you're in the right place. It's a reminder of why I've spent the last 4+ years at Octopus. We did this around direct debit transparency with Balance Forecast, one of the first projects I worked on when I joined Octopus all those years ago. And we're still doing it today with this heat pump dashboard. It's been a pleasure working on this project and helping with the visualisations to help break down the frankly insane amount of raw data into insights around fleet-wide efficiency over time and how performance changes with the temperature. It also tops the list as the dashboard with the longest name that I've ever worked on…

Interested in a heat pump? Looking to avoid the pending fossil fuels crisis? Use the following referral code and get £100 cash card for Solar or Heat Pump install tech.referrals.octopus.energy/ukFls8bl
Greg Jackson@g__j

Not a study, not a survey - but the actual live data from every @OctopusEnergy Cosy heat pump installed in real homes is now online. And it shows that over 80% of Cosy heat pumps were cheaper to run than a gas boiler over the last year and delivered a COP of 3.7 over the whole year (about 4.3x more efficient than a gas boiler) There’s so much disinformation from fossil fuel lobbyists on heat pumps - and anecdote based on bad installs or out of date tech - but we hear time and time again how much Octopus customer la love their heat pumps. Cosy heat pumps can run as hot as a boiler (70C+), can often be installed with no radiator changes and no new insulation, work with microbore piping, can often retain your old hot water tank if you have one. But so much more - comfort sensors in up to ten rooms, optional remote support and servicing, software updates to literally make your heating better without a visit. Effortlessly working with smart tariffs to save money. British designed, British manufactured and thousands of great British jobs. Helping insulate Brits from the last gas crisis, this gas crisis and more to come. See the data for yourself: octopus.energy/cosy-heat-pump…

@g__j @OctopusEnergy Proof in the pudding. Probably more if you dive deeper into this as ive had my heat pump for 12 months now but ran it on IOG EV tariff (as per web advice) not Cosy

@JoeColl87 You sure it’s not under the false floor in boot or in the frunk? It’s in a black zip bag like the tyre inflator and gloop is in.

@duncsand @ctrlaltrefuel @OctopusEnergy I tried that on IOG with my 10kw of house battery 🔋 but the 18hours gap without low price power pulled me into peak rates due to my heat pump. Not a cover all tariff for heat pump and ev yet

NOT ONE of these #Manosphere saddos has ever gone down the pub and had a pint. None of them have ever successfully flipped a beer mat and caught it. None of them have ever got the fruity to pay-out This alone disqualifies them from talking about masculinity. Fucking soft lads…

@LewisStanding1 @robhawkes I don't. There was big supply chain issues with the nacelle production in Saint Nazaire causing supply conflict between USA and DB. I left 2.5 years ago after 1st install.

Do we have first power at Dogger Bank B? According to the balancing data we have 26MW of output today at Dogger Bank B, which will eventually have an installed capacity of 1.2GW. This also implies two (out of 95) of the 13 MW Haliade-X wind turbines have been installed in recent weeks. The data first appears on the morning of March 11th with 13MW of reported output, which also aligns with a single turbine being installed at the time. The latest REMIT data lists an installed capacity of 39MW, which implies 3 turbines have been installed so far. I'll be keeping an eye on this to see how things progress…

@robhawkes The GE lease at Seaton Carew ran until mid 2026 (i managed it) and an extension wasn't signed. Jobs, heads and vessels now on Cromarty Firth.

@robhawkes I expect there will be a further delay in installing DBB as they're moving the turbine marshalling harbour operations from Seaton Carew to Nigg this year, tower deliveries started to be re-routed. Seaton will be used for Hornsea 3 turbines (Siemens)

@JoeColl87 Ah got it! It's really cool to see power so soon after installation. I thought I'd be waiting a while longer to see things happening on the map.

@robhawkes More of a milestone (emotional and contractual) in having turbines spinning on DBA and DBB than just DBA alone. I'll ask some questions to guys on the project 🙂

@JoeColl87 I don't follow, suspect what's a preference? I need to double-check my data but I think Voltaire went straight from the last, delayed DBA turbine to DBB which would be interesting.
