The doom loop of Shopify partners cannibalizing the services of other Shopify partners in the name of showing off how cool it is to automate everything with LLMs and be efficient, smart and trendy, is not the way I expecting the ecosystem to implode, but, well, loopedy-loop-loop.

What new hobbies are people doing now that we all collectively sit around letting AI smoke our computer GPUs and do all our work? Countless hours spent working before and now we just sit around letting the 'puter have at 'er... what's up! We doing things? Wood carving? Pottery?

@hunkybill Yes but not populating my data in the template is the thing. Luckily their backend still accepted my order correctly

@JoshHighland Only the most advanced systems in use have templates. Cutting edge stuff there!

I’ve been testing all sorts of AIs. I’ve come to the conclusion that for anything remotely technical, Claude is the way to go. ChatGPT does a great job at helping me write and think things through.

Neighbor has a new-ish Ford Escape SUV, and twice now in the last week, ne're do-wells have somehow managed to open it without breaking windows, rifle through it thoroughly leaving behind mess, but not stealing it outright. So weird. Is Ford security that bad? Curious.

@JoshHighland @Shopify @ShopifyDevs @harleyf @tobi UPDATE: After a day to improve and debug. I guess the issue appears to be server-related. I was hosting on DO, but it was too slow. I’ve now migrated to Fly.io and will share the results within the next 3 days.

Working toward BFS status but hitting a wall with LCP. App Bridge + web-vitals show we're under 2.5s - Partner Dashboard says otherwise. Why the disconnect between Shopify's own tools? We're not the only ones seeing this. @Shopify @ShopifyDevs @harleyf @farhanthawar @tobi - can someone help us get aligned?

@hunkybill Ah, gotcha. I thought this was a Canadian law. I was trying to figure out how they calculate the value of the car 😂

@JoshHighland Both. Some entitled rich dude decided he did not need to stop his Porsche at the crosswalk/stop sign today. Inconsiderate and inconvenient for me, and an older couple walking their dog. So, his fine should be say, $10k, not the usual $200 or whatever that ticket is. Tax the rich.

Broke cities! Toronto! Montreal! Someone drives a car < $20K through a stop sign/crosswalk, fine is $200. Car worth up to $100K, fine is $2K. Car worth > $100K, fine is $10K, no questions asked. Make the drivers of these exalted vehicles live by the rules, save pedestrian lives.

@FORSBERGtwo Not ideal. But I think @shopify and devs should start thinking about how to make reviews valuable for the people meant to be reading them - potential users. All the focus is on reviews as a ranking signal in the app store. It feels like we’re all missing the point.

Seeing the same pattern.. give great service (often custom coding or lengthy back and forth), get a review.. review does not pass filter and does not get published. This is not the way things should be...  💔 I suspect ours are from new'ish stores, as that's who our app helps.. much like buying a Online Store Theme, it happens at the start. If the new @ShopifyDevs filters simply remove reviews for new stores, our app is as good as dead.
Erikas Mališauskas@malisauskasLT

New @ShopifyDevs reviews policy is brutal. We received 12 5-star reviews in one day, and only 4 got published. Meaning TWO THIRDS of reviews end up in trash. 🗑️ We're investing tens of thousands of dollars every month to provide 24/7 technical customer support. Yet, most of the reviews aren’t published. 🤷🏻‍♂️ If Shopify gets to decide some merchants are not worth their reviews being published, please mark them for us in advance, so we could prioritize providing support for "legit" merchants. Am I wrong there? I support the removal of outdated reviews with questionnable value but how can you justify this? Are these merchants too small? Too fresh? Because reviews itself are clearly legit as they come directly from customer support tickets after solving merchants’ issue. Attaching some of our recent reviews that for some reason didn't pass the filter. 💔 cc @liam_at_shopify @glencoates
