@Abern425819 @K_leeeb yes they’re smd, but not the same as PTC. an e-fuse uses FETs + current sense + comparators to open circuit under fault conditions. for low voltage DC, these are the way. I’ve even made AC efuses with IGBTs.

stop putting glass fuses in things. electronic fuse modules are so cheap now. this prevents the temptation of just upsizing the fuse, which ruins the whole point of circuit protection

talked to an equipment manufacturer today and they said it might be a half a year or more for the PLCs they need to arrive

@DeveloperHarris what PLC platform are you using? industrial supply chain can be F'd a lot of the time, but also some equipment manufacturers can be lazy and only look at their 1 or 2 suppliers.

@zackslab preach over-optimizing on cost on a safety thing is generally a bad move

e-fuses are infinitely better. us response time, custom trip curves, blanking for in-rush, resettable, build in current monitoring usually. traditional fast/slow blow fuses are unpredictable, vary wildly in terms of their i^2t curves, and could take 100s of ms or even seconds to trip.
