Welp, officially can say my first Lacie SSD is cooked, briefly could re power the broken port with manipulation but that stopped today and really don’t have the money in my yearly for the 700-1450 cost estimates of data recovery. All of my 2018-2024 photos were lost, but what particularly hurts was the May G5 October event along with countless photos of my dog that passed, girlfriend and family. I was able to recover some 2023 stuff including Chugwater, but let this be a lesson that 2 storage devices are 1, and 1 is none. Trying a SATA cord myself later this month but otherwise considering everything lost.

I’m not ripping on Maine seafood at all because everyone has their own taste but the only way I’ll eat cod is if it’s salted and dried.

Good morning! Today we are asking you a general trivia question about the weather. How fast does a rain drop fall, not including wind? Check back tomorrow for the answer! Have a great Wednesday! ☀

We could pace twice as fast if it weren't for all these dozy equipment vendors. Some of these companies have zero hustle.

@mfdwx I might have a ventus x (lufft) laying around, let me see if it is repairable and we can part with it. They have their own quirks, but at least won't overspeed by 30+% in upward angle of attack winds

@Keithwxtech Yessir! We do have a ultrasonic sensor for the Davis that was donated to us a couple of years ago, but at the moment we don't have space for it (which may be changing soon).

I can assure you the 105mph on the South Tower Davis is not correct. Due to it's location on that tower, it gets enhanced by aerodynamics around the tower with a south wind and reads way too high. Nonetheless, it appears the official gust is around 80mph. I'll be heading up there shortly!

@esrtweet @theCTwelve @CDoombeard I have ordered two for staff so far, and as we cycle through upgrades, I think most will opt for frameworks. 6 swappable ports is quite nice.

@theCTwelve @CDoombeard I'd be looking hard at Framework if I needed a new laptop, myself. The concept is really cool, and if the execution matches it's a world-beater.

Friends! And also casual acquaintances! I am looking into a laptop specifically to run Fedora Linux. I very much do not want it to possess a CoPilot key, or ideally even a Windows key. The Framework 12 looks appealing… Anyone? @CDoombeard? Maybe @esrtweet if you’re feeling generous with your time? Note: I am not at all a novice in this, I have a not entirely rational attachment to Fedora and Debian (along with a powerful dislike of Ubuntu), and I want to have dedicated hardware instead of lots of VMs on my lil’ server; it’s just better to travel around and handle the thing, y’know? I’m blessed to have some means, so I have my main laptop ( 14” MBP M3), and a cheep and cheery little Dell I picked up to run Windows 11. I had planned to run Fedora on this, but it’s a “CoPilot+” laptop and honestly…it’s not bad for Windows tasks.

Im reading Beggar's Sky by Wil McCarthy right now, and I may be paraphrasing as I don't remember how it was actually worded, but it said something like 'If you know what you are doing, you are under-performing'. Yes.
