Had the opportunity to redesign and rebuild our offline ingestion framework last year after we discovered a bunch of issues, and I am excited to share them in this blog! @ApachePinot’s ability to support low latency queries, with out of the box multi-tenancy support and easy integration with offline data sources are quite underrated. At Uber, we are now supporting ~100 such use-cases with 500+ tables in production.

K, I’m going to dig into @lancedb Lance V2 and FB’s Nimble today. Any good resources that people have found on them?

@_TylerHillery Both are optimized for writes.. timeseries is a subset of olap but the main differences is in write pattern ( contiguous time in timeseries) and read pattern ( read a single series vs adhoc slice/dice, drill down/roll up)

What's the main difference of time series dbs vs olap dbs? Is it that time series dbs are better optimized for writes? Do real-time olap dbs like ClickHouse, Druid, Pinot fix this?

@apurva1618 @kafkastreams As much as I would love for you to use @apachepinot, suggest going to datadog/grafana or prometheus. We did the same at StarTree and just recently we started the task of moving to Pinot as the backend
