@MrHilariouskiwi @bartjevandeven @nzdrug The likelihood of that being fentanyl is extremely low. Fentanyl cases are usually unconscious and not breathing. However, videoing people who clearly need help and putting it on the internet for shock value is gross. For all we know that person might be having a seizure.

@mdmaadvocacy @HRCA_info @nzdrug @julianbuchanan No drug is without risk. But neither is getting out of bed or eating food (could choke oh noes!) - and we are required to do that daily. The tendency to overstate the risks of drugs and understate the risks of other activities is well covered in David Nutt's paper Equasy.

One thing that annoys me is when Prohibitionists say “No drug is safe.” It’s because of Prohibition that “no drug is safe.” Known dose + known substance (meaning the substance is what it says it is) = no risk. @HRCA_info @nzdrug @julianbuchanan @KnowYourStuffNZ

@mdmaadvocacy The fact that upward classification only requires an Order in Council, but downward classification requires an Act with a full legislative process speaks volumes about the biases within the drug classification system.

This means that pseudoephedrine never posed a high risk of harm and proves that the Misuse of Drugs is not infallible. How many other substances have been mis-classified?

The Misuse of Drugs (Pseudoephedrine) Amendment Bill has unanimously passed its final reading. When passed pseudoephedrine will be reclassified from Class B to Class C. @HRCA_info @julianbuchanan @KnowYourStuffNZ @nzdrug
