Out in final form: tinyurl.com/5fe33xp3 RBCs are a surprising glucose sink in hypoxia! New nuggets and collabs w/ D'Alessandro/Doctor labs: (1) RBCs "born in hypoxia" are different and (2) visualizing a O2-dep. glycolytic metabolon! Join us @arcinstitute @GladstoneInst!

People living at high altitude have better glucose tolerance & lower diabetes risk, but the mechanism behind why has remained a mystery. New research out in @Cell_Metabolism from @ishahjain's lab reveals an unexpected answer—red blood cells.

Very interesting preprint linking mitochondrial dysfunction and extracellular matrix remodeling in liver disease. Have a look! MIC13-linked cristae disruption causes metabolic failure and early fibrotic remodelling in mitochondrial liver disease biorxiv.org/content/10.648…

Thrilled to share our newest publication in Materials & Design doi.org/10.1016/j.matd…: combinational treatment of the antimalarial drug chloroquine and nanoceria selectively kills triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells in a 2D and 3D cell system. To all authors: well done

I’m thrilled to announce that my application to the Emmy Noether Program was successful! Over the next years, we’ll investigate how ER–mitochondria contact sites control the lipidome of both organelles. We’re looking for talented researchers to join us on this journey! 🎉🔬

Exciting inputs into functioning of doxorubicin-induced toxicity revealed! There is transcriptional memory in icardiomyocytes even with a single low-dose exposure at the iPSC stage. Nice work from @ReichertLab by Michelle Westerhoff and team. Glad to contribute.
ReichertLab@ReichertLab

We show that preconditioning of iPSCs with low pulse- treatment with a chemotherapeutic drug, doxorubicin, alters the fate of cardiomyocytes that originated from such treated cells. They become transcriptionally reprogrammed in a way that impaires cardiac muscle regeneration.
