First of all, the pseudo-seculars are misleading. There is no detailed documentary evidence regarding the road called Suhrawardy Avenue. Who said it was named after Hasan Suhrawardy?
Secondly, leftists and secularists have started their ritual mourning: “Oh no, it wasn’t Huseyn Suhrawardy, it was Hasan Suhrawardy (Uncle of the infamous Suhrawardy) after whom the road was named! Hasan was a secular intellectual! He wasn’t the butcher; he was only the butcher’s uncle!”
The answer is simple: it will not remain. Uncle, aunt, cousin, relative—there will be no trace of Suhrawardy Butchers in Kolkata. No road, no footpath, not even a garbage bin will bear the name of any member of that family.
Where were the Hasan Suhrawardys during the days of the 1946 Great Calcutta Killing? Were they merely watching the spectacle? When Hindu girls were being killed and hung in front of Victoria College, did this so-called secular intellectual come out in protest? Jinnah and the Suhrawardys chose their own country. They cannot have it both ways—enjoy the benefits here while claiming allegiance elsewhere.
On 6 February 1932, during the Convocation Ceremony of the University of Calcutta, 21-year-old revolutionary Bina Das fired at Sir Stanley Jackson, the British Governor of Bengal. This Hasan Suhrawardy, who was present on the stage as the Vice-Chancellor, immediately leapt forward, grabbed Bina Das’s hand, and restrained her. As a result, the Governor’s life was saved. For this act, the British Government later conferred upon him a knighthood, granting him the title of “Sir.”

Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Suhrawardy (1884-1946) was a surgeon and vice-chancellor of Calcutta University. In 1932, he was bestowed knighthood for saving the life of Stanley Jackson from Bina Das. Selected by Muslim League to be a member of the Legislative Assembly, he renounced his knighthood at the call of his party. His daughter became a politician and diplomat in Pakistan. Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy was his nephew. A road named after him in Kolkata during the British Raj days has now been renamed after Gopal Patha. No public place/road in free India should be named after those linked to the Muslim League, no matter how eminent they were in other fields.

If you consider the first BJP govt with full majority till 1998 metro line stretched 16.45 kms .
But according to Bakri's logic 1984+30= 2014 ,till then Blue line expanded upto 27.22 kms.

The first metro in Kolkata happened in 1984 and remained a 5 km single-line stretch for the next 30 years until the BJP government at the centre stepped in.
