Everything about $NAT — plain & simple
$NAT is the first Digital Matter Theory (DMT) asset on Bitcoin L1. Its supply isn’t “made up” by a team—each Bitcoin block’s bits field deterministically mints NAT. No premine, no VC slices, PoW-tied issuance. It aims to become “hard” money rails for Bitcoin L1 DeFi via @tap_protocol. DYOR.
What is $NAT?
A Bitcoin-native fungible token discovered (not invented) from on-chain data.
Built on DMT: turn non-arbitrary blockchain data into assets. For $NAT, the bits value in every BTC block → a fixed amount of NAT.
Lives on Bitcoin L1 and is supported by Tap Protocol (swaps + LPs without wrapping).
Who’s behind it?
The Digital Matter Theory community (@dmtnats) authored the concept.
Trac Systems / @trac_btc helped index it and wire it into Tap.
@tap_protocol shipped the L1 infra (Taparoo Swap, liquidity pools, bridge from Ethereum).
Why does it exist?
Miner incentives: Post-halving, BTC subsidies fall. NAT adds a parallel, rule-driven stream tied to block discovery.
L1 DeFi money: If Bitcoin L1 is to have swaps, LPs and metaverse economies, it needs a native “commodity” with predictable issuance. That’s the bet.
How issuance works (no magic, just math)
Every BTC block has a difficulty target encoded in bits.
DMT maps that bits value → deterministic NAT output per block.
If blocks slow, NAT issuance slows. If the chain halts, issuance halts. It’s literally PoW-paced.
Result: no premine, no VC allocations, no team mint button.

Nov 20, 2023: $NAT “discovered”/launched on Bitcoin L1.
Jan 2024: Trac indexes DMT-NAT on Tap; infra goes live.
