@AzzurriFanPhil As predicted we drew away to a balkan nation, tough game -we still should have enough. Alajbegović is a hell of a player I think Palestra would be best to be on vs him.

@AzzurriFanPhil Yes brutal. I think we will do it—huge factor is if we draw home field for final (it’s a coin flip). Will not be easy to play a Balkan nation or Scotland away to qualify.

Worst part of being in the playoffs won’t even be the anxiety of the matches (though that will obviously be brutal).
It’s going to be watching the World Cup draw ceremony in December and constantly hearing “This COULD be the group Italy are in. If they qualify.”

Can I give some praise to a player I absolute despise? Dare I say…well done tonight by Gianluca Mancini. I’ve said this once and I’ll say it a hundred more times…I don’t care what club someone is from when they put on the Azzurri shirt, I simply demand they give all effort & play for the team. Mancini performed today. Bravo.

@gper55 @shawn_mcintosh We have seen this 3 games in a row with him. IMO he’s out of form, I certainly didn’t see anything spectacular from him. Bastoni was better. Calafiori was not at his top form either.

@TweeterCalcio @Frank_Bonvino I agree with Frank- Mancini is in a rough patch. Between the dip in form and his unpredictability, he’s a liability for me. He still brings value as an aerial threat on set pieces but I don't feel good about him starting.

@Frank_Bonvino I like Scalvini. I’m a big fan. I’d also start him. My point is, be rational. Starting Mancini is completely understandable
Don’t forget Scalvini has had two very poor games for Italy in biggish games. England away, qualifiers for 2024 and Germany away in UNL lost 5/6-1

Don’t care what people say. Starting Palestra over Politano and Cambiaso is gutsy. And if Gattuso does, then it’s pretty much the best 11 we could ask for.
All those saying Scalvini over Mancini (I’m one), has Scalvini really shown us he’s good enough yet?

@eliosalerno87 Yes he should be called, my guess is it was either him or Palestra..he didn’t want two right backs, both with no caps. In positive news Barella looks quite good so far. Kean also lively. Pio scored. My only concern with this team is Mancini at RCB.

It isn’t pretty, but it would cause chaos & it could have been a really useful weapon to keep in reserve.

@EastCoastCalcio @TweeterCalcio Scalvini is right-footed, so it likely would’ve been a toss-up between him and Mancini. My guess is GG would’ve gone with Mancini. If we stick with a back three, this news makes me think Buongiorno is next in line. Mancini in defense makes me very worried.
