@alancornett I found him when he was doing his wool sweater videos. I'm a prolific knotter, and YT de idea I needed to see him. Anyway, I'm hooked. I really love what he's doing.

Why isn't more clothing manufacturing done in the US? I follow an account on YouTube called The Iron Snail, which is run by a young guy who is in the early stages of a high end workwear type brand and wants to manufacture in the US. Youngest son saw the Ferris wheel @SCHEELS and announced “ he was over his fear of heights”. ( he has crippling fear of heights) All well and good while moving, except we went first. Which meant we got the very top lockout while they loaded mom and brother on the bottom. He didn’t care for that part one bit! But we survived.

My embarrassingly poverty-tier solution to this heat. I could absolutely afford one of those portable AC units, but at this point it's a matter of principle, I refuse to give in - I refuse to regret the purchase in a few weeks when we're back to classic British weather.

Random observations from a European in America: - AC is man’s greatest creation - You can get pretty much anything you need on Amazon and have it delivered in a day or 2 - Biscuits and gravy is definitely not what you think (but it’s good af) - Trucks are everywhere and they are MASSIVE - Hotdogs are made of beef here - Pharmaceutical ads are weird - All their snacks have ‘flamin hot’ varieties for some reason (they’re all bad) - People in general seem happier and more positive here - Bar tabs are dangerous and we can’t be trusted with them 😂

Last year, a huge piece of farmland that has been corn or soybeans as long as I've ever seen it, grew tomatoes. It took a bit to figure out from the road what they were growing, but when we realized and got to watch some harvest, we were so pumped. Lots of thumbs up and cheers from us.

Growing flax for linen is a no brainer for American farmland freed from foreign control and ethanol. We become wealthy again when we grow and weave what we wear. Revive the American Textile industry.

@handmadeshoesia We seeded clover really heavily on our property. It's slowly overtaking the grass. It's in between all of my garden beds as ground cover. I loooove it. Nitrogen fixer and soft underfoot (and knees)

The intoxicating scent of clover in our yard right now is enough to make anyone want to turn their backs on the American lawn monoculture if they have any sense.
