Rep. Veronica Escobar@RepEscobar·
Today, accusations were made by ICE against one of my caseworkers — a dedicated public servant, Army veteran, and experienced member of my team. I have every reason to believe these allegations are unfounded.   It is worth noting that ICE has refused to respond to multiple letters I’ve sent about Camp East Montana regarding deaths, including a homicide; outbreaks of diseases including COVID-19, measles, and tuberculosis; waste, fraud, and abuse; a lack of legal representation or medical care; and so much more.   This administration has a history of engaging in intimidation tactics against Members of Congress as well as continuously attempting to obstruct our ability to provide oversight.   I stand proudly by the members of my team who have demonstrated nothing but dedication and integrity to serving our nation and our community.

@no_serfs @CIS_org It is trivially easy to limit benefits. The fact that you and others won't accept it shows that you aren't interested in a solution. You want the problem to justify ethnic-based targeting.

@David_J_Bier @CIS_org 1- Public School is $36,000 per year in NYS. Why spend that on people from other lands who have never contributed? 2- They are on everything- Medicaid snap etc. The only way to stop is lock the border and deport. The people from these countries don’t belong here.

@no_serfs @CIS_org 1) The image doesn't prove absolutely anything about net benefits. One person in a household got a free school lunch and suddenly they're all on welfare. Stupid. 2) Why would we ban anyone from coming or deport them when we could just not let them get welfare?

@CIS_org Hey @David_J_Bier - this isn’t a blueprint for who to not allow into the country? Also a blueprint for who to remove? What am I missing?

Legal appeals are normal. What's actually insane is that when someone wins their case, and an immigration judge grants asylum, the government can still arrest the asylee, detain them, and appeal the decision. It's like if the government got to retry a case after an acquittal.
Oilfield Rando@Oilfield_Rando

Our asylum laws are so insane that after an immigration judge finally gets around to denying a clearly fraudulent asylum claim years later, the asylum applicant can APPEAL THE DECISION! Our asylum laws are outdated insanity that must be abolished.

At a time of a massive buildup of arrests, detentions, and deportations, look what the Trump administration did to the staff at DHS's internal human rights watchdogs. This happened a year ago Saturday. Read our report: bit.ly/void-report

What ICE is doing to immigrants is bad for public safety. Making immigrants fear law enforcement is the opposite of making America safer. We need safe, orderly, legal immigration, not mass deportation. inquirer.com/news/ice-deten…

"an American is nothing more than someone with the right paperwork." -That's what the right wing believes. That's why they refuse to consider the individual merit of people who are here without the right paperwork.
Kevin Roberts@KevinRobertsTX

The most important part of this exchange is the implicit admission that Raskin thinks an American is nothing more than someone with the right paperwork. Never mind our laws, language, or civic culture.   Adopting this philosophy would mean the end of America—and that’s exactly the Left’s point.

I don’t know what “America is a nation, not an economy” is supposed to mean, but I would think it would mean we should have priorities other than how much immigrants contribute to the federal treasury. 🤷‍♂️
Daniel Di Martino 🇺🇸🇻🇪@DanielDiMartino

In Congress: "America is a nation, not merely an economy. Culture and safety matter, of course. As in everything in life, every choice is a trade off. I encourage you to choose an immigration policy that welcomes immigrants who will be net contributors to the federal treasury."

I honestly don't know what this bill even does, but it sure looks like it just gives the federal government power to override the states but we don't know what the real rules will be: congress.gov/119/bills/hr72…

Trump is not a conservative. He's a big government statist who hates the Constitution and spits on the limited government cause. He cares only about his self-defeating population purge agenda. It should be obvious by now: x.com/David_J_Bier/s…

Trump is paying feed, clothe, house, and provide lousy medical care for illegal immigrants at DHS jails. Then he's paying for free flights to their home country, no questions asked. Then, he's giving them thousands of dollars in taxpayer CASH. Scandal of the century.

Imagine if Biden argued, "We're going to pay to shelter immigrants in DHS facilities until we can find and pay for a flight for them to the USA and then give them $2,600 CASH because it will be good for our fiscal situation since they'll pay taxes here." He'd have a better case!

The government has a ~$1 BILLION program for illegal immigrants to receive government cash and free flights if they came or stayed illegally. It is literally what they accused Biden of doing in reverse. Cash handouts and free flights for illegal aliens. They have no principles.
Priscilla Alvarez@priscialva

NEW: Around 72,000 people have self-deported through the Trump administration's "Project Homecoming" program, according to documents reviewed by CNN. The majority of those were in ICE detention. cnn.com/2026/03/18/us/…

The opposite, actually. Poland 🇵🇱 has absorbed 2.5 million immigrants, more than 6% of total population, over the past decade plus👇. This includes around a million of Ukrainian 🇺🇦 refugees who came after Russia’s aggression. More than 70% of the refugees are employed and have contributed between 0.7 to 1.3 percentage points to Poland’s GDP growth in 2023 alone. They also had a significant contribution to the Polish budget forbes.com/sites/lidiakur…
