I was recently told that I need to be "liberated" from thinking that covid is still dangerous to my high risk family and worth masking for. I reflected on this, and realized it's the other way around. Masking brings me many kinds of liberty I never had pre-pandemic... 1/6

I still see patients dumbfounded that a 'flu' put them in hospital hooked up to oxygen and machines. When I ask when they last got their boosters, they just got the original shots in 2021 and that was that. No one told them otherwise. Don't be lulled into complacency, especially if you're older than 65 or clinically vulnerable.

I had the privilege of fit testing several families recently using my Bitrex kit. I cannot overstate how important it is to shape your nose wire properly, BEFORE you put on the mask. It makes so many masks go from fail to pass! Cool people shape their nose wires. Pass it on.

The ME/CFS language game centers fatigue because fatigue is the defining feature of ME/CFS. When Long COVID gets absorbed into that framework, patients whose primary symptoms are pain, vascular damage, cardiac injury, or neurological dysfunction become invisible. It's not because their suffering is less severe but because it doesn't map onto the language game.

Because of this war, the prices of most of the raw materials for masks have been rising in the past two months. There are no winners in this war!

My posts on Instagram about how animals are suffering because of climate change get far more engagement than those about what’s heading towards us all. Fair enough. But I think it reveals that people don’t understand the danger we are all in. Not future generations. Us.

Believing in something that can actually hurt you (e.g., denying covid) is a desirable feature of a belief, not a bug. This made my day. It appears as if someone recognizes this is NOT over & wants to keep ppl safe while traveling to prevent forward transmission. What a lovely idea. Better late than never. 😷

It’s hard not to marvel at the science and healthcare accounts discussing the Bloomberg article, re: economic impacts of $135 Billion lost annually due to LongCOVID, while simultaneously making absolutely no mention of anything to do with prevention. It’s actually breathtaking.

The BA.3.2 Cicada Covid variant is driving waves of severe vomiting in kids right now. Many doctors are calling it just a viral bug and sending families home. A mom in a parenting group posted: her 4 kids (and her) were sick with throwing up for a full week over spring break. Now since Sunday it’s one kid per day vomiting all day long. They’ve been scrubbing the house and washing hands like crazy but it keeps cycling. She’s desperate asking “What the hell is happening to us??” One comment even said if diarrhea goes 10+ days the pediatrician will test the poop for E. coli and stuff but nobody is even mentioning Covid testing. This is circulating quietly while many assume it is something else.
