Nigel Farage says he will resign as MP amid a scandal over gifts and benefits he received before being elected in 2024, but insists he will run in the ensuing by-election for Clacton-on-Sea. In a statement based around his "future in public life" the Reform UK leader detailed a list of grievances around media and political scrutiny of the donations scandal. Parliament is investigating whether Farage should have declared a £5 million gift given by cryptocurrency billionaire, Christopher Harborne, and the investigation could be expanded after the Sunday Times revealed benefits from his advisor, George Cottrell, who was previously jailed for fraud in the US in 2017. Mr Farage insists he has done nothing wrong, calling these personal gifts.
