Ben Rice should not be sitting to favor Paul Goldschmidt at bats unless Ben needs a rest. Rice is a potential cornerstone bat who can hit lefties. You can pick and choose with Paul not Ben.

@pamsson Poor Boobe probably assumed Stanton would be on the IL by now and he could easily get both Rice and Goldy AB’s without pulling boneheaded moves like this. Inexcusable having Rice out of the starting lineup two days in a row.

If Ben Rice is a true middle of the order bats, which I think he is, he should be developed to face those guys. You have to throw him in the fire but you help him by giving him reps against all kinds of lefties. Goldy can PH or give him a random breather IMO.

@pamsson Sitting him only makes sense against the Skubal’s, Crochet’s, and Valdez’s of the world. Detmers is the perfect challenge for Rice to get better against. How can they expect him to get better against MLB caliber left handed pitching if they don’t evenlet him start against Detmers

Rosario has to be in the lineup every day. While I believe he’s better in spurts, Ryan McMahon has an OPS+ of MINUS ONE. In other words road kill would be a better option for the #Yankees than Ryan McMahon, so yes. Play Rosario every day.

I think the Yankees should chill with the platoon stuff until the lineup gets going. We don’t need starting at bats from Grichuk. Rice should be an entrenched starter at this point. They can keep Rosario because he’s hot and McMahon is struggling. Go with your best for now.

@MattEhalt Not sure but most of these kids dream about playing in the NBA. I also think people forget this being in college is less money but also a lot more work. Attending class, taking exams, and I’m guessing Hurley’s practices are a lot harder physically than the pros.
