@CarsonOGinn @StennerMax @matthewdmarsden You’re an American, don’t tell me what my people saw. You yanks are currently ran by pedofiles and yous still can’t recall that correctly never mind something from 40 years ago

@MarkohRL @StennerMax @matthewdmarsden That was England. You let RTÉ rewrite your history. Too many gobshites swallowed their lies and voted to turn Ireland over to third worlders - who will soon make those ‘dark days’ look like a paradise.

@Ben_Scallan Either way the tax payer is paying for it either at the till or in other tax to pay for the subsidy. The only winner is the farmer hauler and the non tax payer. So as always no matter what way it falls the ordinary person is the sucker

You do realise that the price of haulage, shipping, food production, etc. impacts every single citizen in society? When you buy food at the supermarket, the bottom line of the producer, distributor, etc. all contributes to the price. If they're screwed over, you're screwed over.
Common Cents@Reunify32

And there you have it. The fuel protests were never intended to result in support for ordinary people. The farmers and hauliers were in it for themselves only and didn’t give a shit about inconveniencing the rest of us to achieve their aims.

I know he's not here anymore but Gavin Reilly explains in clear as day language why the demands of the protestors can't be met.

@StennerMax @matthewdmarsden It also went from one of the poorest to one of the richest. Ireland had a very dark history of church rule that kept the country in darkness, treated women horribly and made the place miserable

@matthewdmarsden These things just aren’t political here. America is so far right that gender equality and not destroying the plant are seen as leftist policies and not just normal assumed values

@Matthew83894864 @WestKerrylad Over what? 10-20% rises in price? If you lose everything over petrol going up 20c you need a serious look in the mirror about living within your means

This a disgrace, Nobody in this country has the right to decide who travels and who doesn't. Whatever grievance you have however valid you do not have the right to hold the country to ransom. Well done Gardai #fuelprotest
An Garda Síochána@GardaTraffic

An Garda Síochána is aware of alleged intimidation and harassment of drivers of trucks and fuel tankers going about their lawful business. This is unacceptable. This is not protest. This is criminal activity. An Garda Síochána will investigate all complaints received!

@SolidXplorer @Dublinmarti Not really, vast majority of the consumed food in Ireland is imported. We live in a free market economy, if they felt they weren’t paid enough for their services they should charge more for them, if no one will pay it they’re not worth it. Simple supply and demand

@MarkohRL @Vegetable_pack @XtineFang College education yes. It’s not worth 120-320 thousand dollars in debt. People need to earn a living. Also AI is already hollowing out the middle of the job market. Ireland will be indistinguishable from Pakistan in 300 years, I’d worry about your home turf dawg

@WooClan99 @Vegetable_pack @XtineFang It’s an insanely US coded thing to say education is useless and break down what’s beneficial in a career path purely on financial outcomes. This is why your country is fucked up

@MarkohRL @KisseFin @FionaSmall But it's still rising there. Its rising because there's a global oil shortage Spain reduced their VAT and cut excise duties and their current prices today are higher than in February. We're not even the most expensive in Europe

@ACozzie4 @LiosGlas49 @danobrien20 US vs Ireland: - Life expectancy ~4 years lower (79.8 vs 82.9) - Worse education outcomes & PISA scores (e.g. math 465 vs 492) - Much higher inequality (Gini 41.8 vs 29.0) - Far higher crime (homicide ~5x) - Prison population ~6x higher (541 vs ~100 per 100k)

@EO_Halloran @KisseFin @FionaSmall 4$ a gallon is approximately 90c per litre. Do you know why it’s so low? It’s not taxed near as much as in Ireland Now America is a shit hole and I wouldn’t want to copy any sort of policy they have but temporarily it can be done during this period

@MarkohRL @KisseFin @FionaSmall 20% of global oil has been shut off for a month now. The entire world is experiencing it There's no way for anyone to be fully protected from these costs Even America is now over $4 per gallon which is a lot for them

@debatuin Indeed, it's startling. It's almost as if the genuine working class does not share the bizarre ideals of the champagne socialist class, which has entirely co-opted left-wing discourse in this country for the better part of a decade.

@taxidamien @GaryMcG1888 @AislingOConne11 I’m a socialist with a very well paying job. This idea that people who want working people to be looked after and cared for is lazy is a stupid thought. Capitalism has done nothing but destroy societies. Look at what’s happening in America, hard working people in crippling debt

When did the Irish Left become such snivelling little bastards? Lefty, middle class socialists condemning working class Irish men and Irish women because they’re protesting against the rising cost of fuel in this country.

@h0kerr @NealGuides That’s the problem though. If you didn’t buy coins or FIFA points you couldn’t get any of the more exclusive players. I played FIFA 12-17 and 20-22 all RTG and in 20-22 i always had a competitive team where as in old FIFA’s it was the same sweaty gold cards from start to end
