Very sad news. I spoke to Steve most weeks during his spell as Notts manager and he was always entertaining and witty.
I still laugh about some of his quotes, including after a controversial defeat at MK Dons: 'If the ref was on fire I'd dial 998'. Rest in peace Thommo.

We're sad to report the news that the former Notts County manager Steve Thompson has died after a long battle with cancer. Thompson was assistant to Colin Murphy in the mid-90s and returned to manage the Magpies himself in 2006.
