@whatifalthist LA culture is dominated by transplants who move to the city for their own personal success (I am one of these people). So there's much less communal interest and cultural pride. (The rest of CA not like this, contrary to the other responses).

What’s the cultural difference?

When I’m at a restaurant or shopping I often ask the staff what their favorite item is as know more than me. Back home in Philly they always have an answer and it starts a conversion. In LA they never answer saying “all our items are popular” and I ask “what do you like”.
