I'm sorry to hear that - family is especially hard. Like I said, only God can know a person's heart, so that can give us hope. But at the same time, we also have to stand on truth. Paul confronted Peter in Galatians 2 because of his serious error, so his example shows just how important this is. I think also mixed into this topic is a healthy understanding that we could be wrong in areas. I once had a Bible study group proclaim that I wasn't saved because I didn't speak in tongues. 🤨 I think they were completely wrong, but I'm not willing to say every single one of them were unsaved.

@MatthewDePra If I had had more characters I would have added that 15years ago they never believed any of this. And it’s family so that makes it even more complicated. They say we are worthy of Christ saving us, Jesus came to do away with the law….it’s so many areas 😩

Theology question: can someone who claims believe in Jesus(believes they need Jesus death to pay for their sins, ask to be forgiven and trust in him) but is completely heretical in all other beliefs(like Paul’s writings are not scripture, 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ affirming, etc) be actually saved?

If you’re truly saved, God will keep you to the end. Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Yes, the one time for all time sacrifice, which never needs to be re-sacrificed or re-presented as a sacrifice. Hebrews 10:12-14 ESV But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. Thank you Jesus.

Two weeks from tonight, we will remember the first true Eucharist ever and the institution of the priesthood of Jesus Christ. There is nothing as great as being a Catholic!

The mass is a re-presentation of the sacrifice that Jesus made, which goes against scripture. Hebrews 10:12-14 ESV But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. He doesn't need to be re-presented - that puts His death to shame. He died one time for all time.

Real churches have altars, not stages. The mass is not a show; it's heaven touching earth.

@EvanPaul05 This is just word-play engagement farming. Positionally, in Christ, we are righteous, but not because of anything we did. In our flesh, we are sinners, but we are saved by grace.

How else are we supposed to communicate the Gospel other than by preaching it? Also, that's exactly what Paul said to do: 2 Timothy 4:1-2 ESV I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

Of all the learning methods, lecture is the least effective (5% retention) of them all. If this is the case why do we still do so much of it in the church?

Any season of transition can be difficult. The narratives and communications circulating about us on social media over the past few days have made this season even more difficult for us and our family. We want to express our deep gratitude for the twelve years we spent at Reformation Bible College and Ligonier Ministries. We are thankful for that time and for the people we had the privilege to serve. We also appreciate that both RBC and Ligonier have conducted themselves in an amicable, gracious, and honorable manner during this season of transition, and we have sought to do the same. Since others have shared their version of events, we believe it is appropriate to share ours. In January 2024, we learned from the counselor of our daughter, Grace, that he had submitted a report to the Florida Department of Children and Families of suspicion of sexual abuse of Grace by Stephen Adams. On January 10, 2025, we reported suspicion of sexual abuse of our daughter by Stephen Adams to Saint Andrew’s Chapel. Over subsequent meetings, we realized that we were at an impasse with our church and that we had different perspectives on how to handle this situation. On April 21, 2025, we notified a pastor at Saint Andrew’s that we would begin the process of finding a new church. We notified him again on July 20, 2025, that it would be our last Sunday (and it was). We each received separate indictments two days later, July 22, 2025. We were accused of slander, unresolved anger, collusion to deceive, failure to follow session directives, and breach of membership vows. There was never a trial, and our case was never adjudicated. After Saint Andrew’s Chapel voted to disassociate from the PCA on December 14, 2025, we immediately resigned our memberships. On Sunday evening, December 14, we joined New Hope PCA in Eustis, Florida, by testimony. On January 27, 2026, Saint Andrew’s found us guilty of contumacy, which is the failure to submit to the authority of the church and refusal to appear before the church. Afterwards on February 25, 2026, at their request, we met with a committee of the session to answer any questions and hopefully bring some resolution to our differences. On March 10, 2026, Saint Andrew’s excommunicated us, not on the underlying indictments, but for contumacy. We remain members in good standing at New Hope and are grateful for the love, care, and support of our pastors and our church during this season. We reported suspicion of sexual abuse of our daughter, we ended up indicted, and we ended up excommunicated. We are deeply saddened by all that has taken place and grieved for everyone involved. Our prayer and hope is that the central issue will not be lost. At the heart of this issue is the suspected sexual abuse of our daughter. —Stephen and Heidi Nichols

Because people aren't perfect, we're still affected by sin, and people have different levels of maturity. Romans 14 has a lot of teachings on this. In the new heavens and new earth, there will be one perfect church under God, with all the people perfectly following the correct doctines. Until then, we have to deal with the imperfections of this life. I fully expect to be corrected on my own inconsistencies with God's perfection. Fortunately for us, perfect theology isn't a requirement for salvation.

He didn’t come to establish a magisterium. He came to tear the veil. That torn veil in Matthew 27:51 is one of the most theologically loaded moments in Scripture. The veil separated ordinary people from the Holy of Holies where only priests could enter and only through prescribed channels, only with institutional authority. Christ’s death ended that system permanently. The message is pretty clear and that message is that direct access to God is now available to every person. No mediating institution required. The Council of Nicaea was men voting. The Pope is a man. Tradition was compiled by men. Christ came to make all man equal before God. Through Him.
Bishop@BishopJaxi

Sola Scriptura is functionally "Scripture according to my interpretation," backed by whatever men agree with me. It is the exaltation of private judgment over the Bible, reinforced by other men who share that same judgment. Every time a Protestant declares something to be "biblical," he is either appealing to his own interpretation of the text or to heretics like John MacArthur to validate that interpretation.

@darwintojesus No they shouldn't, but we also shouldn't die at all, and yet because of sin, we do. But to zoom out a bit: a baby gets cancer, dies, and then spends eternity with Christ. A brief time of suffering is nothing compared to an eternity of rest, peace, and joy.

Babies shouldn't get cancer and Adam shouldn't have rebelled against God. This is why sin is so serious, because of the fallout it causes. Blaming God for your choices and their consequences only makes you look ignorant.
