Really simple filter: is there more opportunity available to the average person in the U.S. today than there was in the past? Only honest answer is yes. All of the doomerism is just projected fear about an uncertain future. Fear that there will be less opportunities later. How does that fear serve you today, except to stop you from seizing the infinite opportunities available today? It doesn’t. Doomerism is a psyop designed to keep you weak and poor.

Dubai friends have split into 3 camps over the Iran missiles situation: 1️⃣ The “Oman border → private jet → Istanbul breakfast” delegation. 2️⃣ The “It’s fine” crew -> swimming at the beach, sunset walks on the Palm, vitamin D maxing. 3️⃣ The Shelter-in-Place Official Guidance Followers™. Whichever camp you’re in, make the best decision for you and your family.

This is why shy introverts & low agency people have worse outcomes in life. So simple, yet most wouldn’t do this bc they’d have talked themselves out of asking & made up reasons why it wouldn’t work. Audacity compounds like this in so many invisible ways. Most rules are illusory

I was offered $95K. I asked for $110K. They came back with $105K.I accepted. The 30 seconds of discomfort asking for more earned me an extra $10K/year. This is where context matters; that's $50K over 5 years. For 30 seconds of awkwardness. Always negotiate. Always.

> be Dutch anon > buy 100 shares of a tech company with my life savings > stock goes up because the CEO tweeted a frog meme > haven't sold a single share, still eating mayo on bread for dinner > government appears out of the canals like a swamp monster > "GEKOLONISEERD. THAT'S 36% OF YOUR IMAGINARY PROFIT, MENEER." > explain that I literally don't have the cash because I haven't sold anything > "SELL THE STOCK TO PAY THE TAX ON THE STOCK YOU'RE HOLDING" > forced to sell 40% of my position just to pay for the privilege of owning the other 60% > stock crashes 50% the next morning > I now owe the tax office more than my entire portfolio is worth > have to sell my bicycle and my wooden shoes to cover the debt > government uses the money to build a slightly taller levee to protect a pile of dirt > cycle to work in a rainstorm while a tax collector checks the appreciation value of my raincoat > "unrealized gains" more like "realized poverty" > mfw I’m being taxed on the vibes of future wealth

The comfort that comes from having a nest egg that can support you for a decade if your income stopped is unmatched. Not enough talk about saving your money online in a world of “make X a month” content. Pressure from making dumb purchases should be because you keep your chequing account low and funnel $ into investments. Not draining your net worth to lease things you don’t need.

The compound effect is crazy I know a guy that failed at ecom for about 6 years No matter what he tried to do he just couldn’t make anything work Even if the product was great → he would get unlucky with an industry change or competitors would simply be better If he had a good run with ads → it wouldn’t last and he would go back to being unprofitable on ads When he finally started doing well → he had terrible supplier issues and payment processor holds Then in his 7th year, he did $100,000s in profit and has been doing really well building ecom brands since then During those first few years of struggle, he told me that he felt like he was just wasting his time But that time wasn’t wasted - every hour he spent on his craft improved his skill and made him better at it The experience that he gathered from all of those failures were invaluable So when the pieces finally aligned, he was able to take advantage of it and he has become a multi-millionaire from ecom since then If it feels like your work isn’t going anywhere right now, don’t worry If you just keep showing up and working every day the compound effect will take care of you and you will be rewarded sooner or later

Never hear of someone ripped, handsome, successful complaining about being an adult The world is your playground - you can surf, ski, party at beach clubs & on yachts Life is the funnest game ever - you have money to do whatever you want, time to actually do it, friends to join you, and memories that last a lifetime The entry price to an amazing life is fulfilling your potential You actually have to put in the work. You have to show up everyday & get better. The more you do that, the better your life gets. You just don’t want to do the work so it’s easier to complain “being an adult is so hard”

NETHERLANDS TO TAX UNREALIZED BITCOIN GAINS Netherlands is moving toward taxing unrealized capital gains on bitcoin, stocks, bonds, and other assets after parliament voted to overhaul annual income tax filings. Under the new system, investors will owe tax each year based on changes in asset value, even if nothing has been sold. The reform, known as Wet werkelijk rendement Box 3, is scheduled for 2028 and will tax actual returns by measuring the difference between an asset’s value at the start and end of the year, plus any income received. That means both realized and unrealized gains will be taxed. Critics warn the shift could create serious liquidity problems, forcing investors to pay taxes on paper gains without having cashed out.
