Personal update: I will be stepping down from my role as @MonkeDAO Executive this upcoming term, effective March. It was not the easiest decision, because this organization is full of people I love, care for & enjoy working with. From now on, I'll be cheering the DAO on as a proud member instead while staying on the periphery to lend a hand when needed. I am 100% confident that @jemmmyjemm will continue to lead the team towards excellence. 2 years feels like a very long time in this industry, and I'm proud of what I've built alongside the team. I am incredibly grateful for that DM from Jemmy one fateful day inviting me to join, and for the chance to grow and learn alongside people I respect. I can say with my whole heart that we have come such a long way in that time. We’ve built stronger systems, created more structure across our verticals, while staying lean and taking on as many hats as possible. Being able to see through 2 years of Monkes @ Breakpoint, Solstice, launching our first line of plushies with @EatwithNomu, and pulling off multiple marketing campaigns & partnerships, it was definitely 2 of the most fulfilling years I've had. Forever grateful to the execs beside me in the trenches, and the contributors I've had the privilege to work with: @jemmmyjemm @supersimon77 @moon_settler @Stroll2Stroll @unjustmouse @SOL_HoTsAuCe @maldoio @muggle_ri @cronus_art @bibseebliss @GDamigeana @SMBennyy @devmajesty @GivnerAriel @craig2139 @TheRealGapper and so so many more. I will truly miss working with you guys. So, what's next for me? As of right now, I will have a short break (funemployment!!) and finally take some time to pick up things I've always wanted to learn. Build some good habits as well before stepping into another challenge. I'm also a huge believer in synchronicity, so I'm super excited to see what comes my way and how the future unfolds ✨

Web 3 Gaming Isn’t Dead — It Just Moved On-Chain Every few months, someone tweets “Web3 gaming is dead.” They point to quiet Discords, fallen tokens, and half-finished metaverses. But they’re looking in the wrong place. Web3 gaming didn’t die — it just stopped looking like games. The Hidden Revival In 2021–2022, gaming projects were about “play-to-earn.” Tokens, NFTs, unsustainable rewards. Everyone was a farmer, not a player. Then the market crashed — and attention vanished. But under the surface, something important happened: blockchain quietly became a game infrastructure, not a game genre. The shift wasn’t hype. It was architecture. From Play-to-Earn to Play-for-Value Developers realized players don’t want DeFi with skins. They want ownership, not spreadsheets. That’s why the best-performing Web3 games in 2024–2025 aren’t branded “crypto” at all. They’re free-to-play, on-chain under the hood, with assets that move between games or into wallets. Ownership is invisible — not advertised. The Data Says Otherwise If gaming were “dead,” the numbers wouldn’t look like this: Blockchain gamers: ~102 million in 2025 — up 72 % YoY. (coinlaw.io) Gaming NFTs: ~$12.9 billion market value in 2025 — 3× higher than “art NFTs.” (coinlaw.io) NFT users total: ~11.6 million globally, majority linked to gaming or identity, not art. (coinledger.io) Active gaming wallets: >60 % of all NFT activity. (vancelian.com) The “JPEG economy” collapsed. The gaming economy replaced it. The New Player Economy Gaming is now where NFTs make sense: You earn through time and skill, not speculation. Assets are composable — skins, weapons, and currencies exist across titles. Communities act like DAOs — guilds, staking pools, co-ownership. Gamers aren’t flipping JPEGs. They’re farming time value. What Critics Miss Most “Web3 gaming is dead” takes come from investors who lost token bets, not from players who stayed. The new generation doesn’t talk about tokenomics. They talk about progression, ownership, portability. Crypto didn’t kill gaming. It infected it — quietly, irreversibly. Why This Matters If DeFi financialized money, then gaming financialized time. That’s a bigger idea than any token airdrop. It’s a re-definition of digital labor. Gaming is the first place where crypto utility feels natural — not financial. It’s the bridge between users and on-chain economies. Web3 gaming isn’t dead. It just stopped calling itself Web3.

Super busy irl and have taken a step back from web3 but cant quite stay away completely! I can imagine the amount of effort and thought it takes for each post. Its good stuff very original, non technical (which I love) and an easy read. Haven't quite read anything similar although Im not scrolling as much. Looking forward to the next one ❤️

The Death of On-Chain Users Crypto’s biggest lie right now is that “adoption is growing.” Wallets are up. Bridges are up. TVL is up. But real on-chain users? They’re disappearing. We don’t have users anymore — we have scripts, bridges, and empty wallets pretending to be activity. The Mirage of Growth Every dashboard looks bullish. Millions of new wallets. Billions in transactions. Endless contract calls. But here’s what the data doesn’t show: Unique active wallets have flatlined across almost every major chain since 2022. Median transaction value per user keeps falling. Concentrated liquidity means the top 1% of addresses still control most of the volume. The numbers went up because automation scaled faster than people did. One whale interacting with ten contracts through five wallets now counts as fifty “users.” From Users to Systems 2021’s crypto cycle was defined by humans discovering protocols. 2024’s cycle is defined by protocols talking to each other. Bridges, bots, aggregators, vaults, auto-compounding scripts — they do the clicking now. That’s not a bad thing technically. It’s just not user growth. We’ve industrialized interaction and called it adoption. The UX Paradox Crypto never solved its UX problem — it abstracted it away. We stopped teaching people how to use wallets. Instead, we built middlemen that hide them. CEXs, Telegram mini-apps, smart wallets — they replaced friction with invisibility. Now people think they’re “on-chain” when they’re really not. The blockchain became a back-end. The “user” became a shadow. The Engagement Collapse On-chain activity still happens — but it’s narrow, repetitive, and speculative. The average address interacts with fewer unique contracts each month. The average retention after a single transaction is near zero. The most common wallet action? Claiming an airdrop or bridging once. We built an ecosystem optimized for capital movement, not user engagement. And when the capital slowed, the humans left. DeFi’s Quiet Retreat DeFi protocols used to have vibrant communities — Discords, governance, debates. Now most are ghost towns run by auto-compounders. Liquidity is deep, but lifeless. Governance is active, but only on paper. Fees accrue, but no one knows why. The irony is that DeFi didn’t fail — it just stopped needing people. The more efficient the system became, the fewer humans it required. Why This Matters Crypto has mistaken machine liquidity for human adoption. That’s why retail sentiment feels dead even when metrics look fine. That’s why every new “active user record” feels hollow. Without human stickiness, networks can’t sustain culture, identity, or value. They can only sustain throughput. Crypto doesn’t need more transactions — it needs more reasons to transact. The New Divide The next frontier won’t be “on-chain vs off-chain.” It’ll be machine-chain vs human-chain. Machine-chain is DeFi, bridges, vaults, MEV — optimized for automation. Human-chain is SocialFi, creator economies, reputation graphs — optimized for behavior. Both are necessary. But right now, we’re pretending one counts as the other. Crypto adoption didn’t die — it just stopped being human.

The Stakes Are Real. The Rewards, Tangible. Forget fleeting motivation. Here, your commitment directly impacts your wallet and the collective. Miss your daily step target, and a portion of your stake empowers those who achieved theirs. Consistently hit your stride, and you'll claim a share of those forfeits, magnified by your personal boost. This isn't just a step tracker; it's a system of mutual accountability, where every effort (or lack thereof) has immediate, financial consequences. Step up.
