EU Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra is being refreshingly blunt: there is “no workaround” for Europe’s energy price crisis. Hoekstra’s message? The only way out is through: more electrification, more solar, more wind, more storage, more grid interconnection.

Denmark didn’t “transition” its grid—it replaced it. ~15% → 92% renewable electricity in 25 years. Wind did the heavy lifting. Solar is scaling. Interconnection balanced. Flexibility solved variability. Wind built it. Solar is scaling. Fossil lost it. This IS system replacement.

Some Labour MPs are pushing for a “Swiss-style” relationship with the EU - including deeper economic ties and possible freedom of movement. Is that the future?

@dailybritainonx Inevitable or not, this bl**dy government is taking us back in by the back door. To be expected I suppose, as Starmer always opposed the result of the referendum and wanted to reverse it as soon as he could.

@andrewhesselden "..63% of Brits"? Who are they these days? I doubt many were born in the UK. And tell us all, why do you think the UK would be better off being governed by unelected bureaucrats from foreign countriers? Unless you don't think you're capable of governing yourself.

63% of Brits would now vote to rejoin the EU. That’s not a marginal shift. That’s a country that’s changed its mind. The question isn’t “why talk about rejoining?” It’s: why are we still pretending this hasn’t happened? Source 👇 leftfootforward.org/2026/02/brits-…

Wonderful news! The UK is moving toward fast-tracking EU regulations into British law, in order to align with the EU single market in key sectors. This is a major step toward rebuilding closer ties and stronger alignment between the UK and the EU. Europe is reconnecting 🇪🇺🇬🇧

@dailybritainonx As always, 'Remain' never understood it was't about the economy. It was about sovereignty; our ability to govern ourselves. Our subsequent failures are the faults of subsequent government. P.S. the 350m was a suggestion, not a promise.

On 23 June 2026, Britain marks ten years since the Brexit referendum. We were promised £350 million a week for the NHS. We were promised the easiest trade deals in history. We were promised sunlit uplands. Research now shows the economy is 6-8% smaller, business investment fell 18% and 63% of us would vote to rejoin.

@TinaWight2 Before 2016 that's more or less what the 'Remain' lobby were saying. Funny it didn't quite work out. Why do you want the UK to be run by un-elected foreigners; unless you think you're incapable of doing it.? (Though with this government, one could be forgiven for thinking that).

@AbiluTangwa With the greatest respect, I do not think these histrionics help your cause. Yes, the rain forests are important indeed, vital to our continued existence, but there are better ways to secure their future than jumping on the CO2 bandwagon. Especially as CO2 is forest food.

2015–2025 are officially the hottest 11 years on record. 2025 was 2nd/3rd hottest at +1.43°C above pre-industrial levels. Earth’s energy imbalance is the highest in 65 years of measurements. The planet is screaming. Are we listening? We demand #ClimateAction NOW.

@LizWebsterSBF Strange that, if what you claim is true, why do all the major financial institutions still want a place in London? Also, do you not miss the point that, before we joined the EU (the 'Common market' in those days) London ws already one of the major financial centres of the world?

🚨 New research ‼️ Brexit has reduced the global influence of the City of London, not strengthened it. The UK has lost automatic access to the European Union single market for financial services, and business has steadily shifted to EU centres like Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. 👉 Less activity 👉 Less influence 👉 More fragmentation And crucially: we still need to align with EU rules to operate in that market, we just don’t help write them anymore. That’s the pattern across the economy with trade, food, energy and finance. 🔥 Less say, more barriers, weaker position. theconversation.com/how-brexit-red…

@VeryBrexitProbs Before 2016 all polls indiated that the people of the UK would vote to remain. And and what happened? They were wrong. They were wrong then and they're wrong now. Why do you think the UK is better off being governed by unelected bureaucrats from other countries?

They won the vote in 2016. They're losing it every single year since. 140,000 Leave voters are lost every year. 85% of young voters want back in. The maths doesn't lie. It's not IF Britain rejoins, it's WHEN. 🇬🇧🤝🇪🇺

@akaelwopo1 @janrosenow Well said Sir. It is often said that anyone who thinks mankind can control the climate has an ego that is not commensurate with their knowledge. Waste management is far more important than blocking motorways in a misguided effort to change the climate.

Reality vs Narrative
Reality vs Narrative@akaelwopo1·
The irony is that it's misunderstandings like this that discourage people from taking climate issues seriously. It is a well-established fact that the Earth and its climate are complex, chaotic, non-linear systems that have never been perfectly balanced. Pretending we can fully control or stabilize such a system is unrealistic and naive. Instead of focusing on misguided efforts, we should address genuine environmental challenges such as waste management and ocean pollution. Additionally, we should recognize the vital role of carbon dioxide, one of the Earth's fundamental components that supports life through processes like photosynthesis, rather than dismissing it as a harmful pollutant.

Climate has almost disappeared from our conversation. But it remains the most pressing challenge of our times. Last week the WMO said the planet is “more out of balance than at any time in observed history.” Energy security and climate security are not competing priorities.
