@NextGenPlayer @xboxBG It only makes sense for their games to be multiplatform if they have zero ambition, which is not the case. A major reason why they find themselves in the situation they’re in is because they abandoned exclusives, which made them unstable.

Yep, exclusives are good for Nintendo and Sony because they have strong, stable platform-first businesses. Xbox, which purchased a dozen studios and two large publisher is now a publisher-first business, platform secondary. And therefore it makes sense for their games to be multiplatform. Microsoft agrees, that’s why at their recent Showcase they showed PS5 logos on Halo, Fable, State of Decay 3, Hellblade, Spyro, Minecraft Dungeons 2, DOOM DLC, Fallout 76 DLC, Grounded 2, Sea of Theives DLC, Flight Simulator DLC, Elder Scrolls Online DLC, and Age of Empires IV DLC. 13 Xbox games with PS5 logos. 2 exclusives. That tells you something important.

@NextGenPlayer Xbox will be poorer in long run without healthy player base in its own ecosystem, losing full sales and GP revenue on other platforms. Your view results in less comeptition, speeds up console market consolidation, and gives Sony too much power, making industry worse for everyone.

Multiplatform would be better for longevity and health of The Coalition and InXile More players, more sales/revenue, strengthen & bring the IP to new players, stronger retail presence, larger global reach, extra marketing from PlayStation

@JezCorden These rumors are false. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to "reverse course." And as we said last week, players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year.

@JezCorden I love they’re bringing back exclusives, reduced the price of GP, releasing a bunch of quality games and delivering frequent UI updates. But studio closures and uncertainty about what Xbox will look like in coming years casts a big shadow over what would otherwise be a great year

@Ahmed_Qaraxy @NextGenPlayer Yeah he has been off about several things in the past like rockstar games remasters and release windows, which he had to walk back as just educated guesses.

@NextGenPlayer @MetalSlimeX No he isn't. 400m according to a guy who didn't know Gears was going to be exclusive but then knows how much it cost. It's just a rage bait story that fits the current conversation online. And according to a guy who has gazillion sources in industry yet not report budgets

With Guillermo del Toro’s recommendation, I started watching Apple TV+‘s “Widow’s Bay.” It’s so incredibly good that I couldn’t stop, so I binged through Episode 9 in one go. This horror-comedy, executive produced by Hiro Murai, is set in a cursed island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. Dense fog, violent storms, and all kinds of supernatural phenomena descend upon the town. It’s packed with horror elements, one after another. Fans of Stephen King and horror in general will love it. The pacing is excellent, and the balance between horror and humor is just right. Ironically, the mayor’s tireless efforts to attract tourists reminded me of Mayor Vaughn from “Jaws.” The townspeople are wonderfully eccentric as well, with personalities straight out of “Twin Peaks.” It’s been a long time since a series pulled me in this completely. I can’t wait for next Wednesday’s final episode.

@NextGenPlayer Let’s say it ends up being confirmed, considering Soiderman 2 cost over 300M for less than half the years of development. So what?

@Upperthighs Yeah to be honest as with many of these older titles a lot of the love is nostalgia-based. Not exclusively by any means, I still think it’s a great game regardless, but it brings back those magical memories of adolescence that are tough to beat!

@MetalSlimeX While it is “trust me bro”, Gears 5 is a 2019 game, 7 years ago. It is so easy to see $400M could be accurate, and given the timeline I’m surprised it’s only $400M and not higher.

@BitterJeweler @Big__TeeJ True but most people wouldn’t be interested in it if it was just Steam. It’s the total package that makes it enticing.

@Big__TeeJ Right. Which still makes Steam the selling point of an xBox. It’s not about what the core “console” offers. I am a PS main, got my first xBox (sx). My only interest in getting “Helix” is if it has Steam. I don’t and won’t have Gamepass. The selling point is PC games.

If you're upset about the change with Xbox in regards to PS... ultimately it's Sony who is responsible for Xbox making certain titles exclusives again. Microsoft originally had a great solution to give their hardware customers a massive reason to buy their next console... making it a hybrid that runs PC storefronts. In doing so, they would have unlocked PlayStation’s PC ports for Xbox players to enjoy directly on Microsoft hardware. They would still have to wait the 1-2 years for them to come to PC but they would eventually have access. Sony saw this coming and knew it would be an incredible incentive for people to jump over to Project Helix. Since they couldn't control their games running on a competitor's box through Steam, they abruptly pulled their single-player games from PC altogether. They effectively took their ball and went home. With that PS on PC loophole slammed shut, Xbox leadership was left with no choice but to find another way to entice players to buy into the hardware. If you're mad about Xbox pulling titles off PS... you need to direct that frustration at Sony. They are the ones who killed the more open access Xbox was looking to implement.
