@Castellani2014 It’s crazy he’s not even a true third baseman and he already looks like a well above average defender when that was his knock the whole time
@Castellani2014 Are we concerned about the power numbers to start the year? Seems like they might’ve tried to neuter Tork, Riley and Greene a little to get more contact yet they still are struggling to do that…
@nnnotclever@Miggysbat There’s literally a framing runs metric that tells us that’s false. It’s a big deal and the ones that are good add a ton of value to a team
Hindsight is definitely 20-20, but Jake Rogers really should’ve challenged this 3-2 pitch.
It’s worth the gamble in that situation even if you’re wrong, and would’ve changed the entire inning.
@Miggysbat Exactly and then you think maybe he didn’t frame it because he thought it was a strike and didn’t need to but in that case he would’ve challenged it… so he legitimately thought that ball wasn’t even close to strike zone
@MillerTrev Yeah, that’s the part that makes scratch my head. 3-2 pitch, 8th inning; you should try to frame ANY pitch that’s even remotely close, right?
@nickmalley421@Castellani2014 There’s no depth at all… and unfortunately the guys who are the back end people all seem to be fading talents. Vest has lost about 4 mph since 2024 when he was pumping 98-99 and now he’s sitting 95 as a power pitcher.
@RJanovicek@zackorizzi@Castellani2014 His role is supposed to be giving us more length out of the pen… if he cant do that then he’s kind of useless. So I’m not impressed if he can’t hold it together for a couple frames
I’ve always struggled with the balk rule, because it looks like Thompson isn’t coming to a full stop on every single pitch. They’ve called it twice but it feels like that leg is twitching every time.
@Tbrow76@Castellani2014 And hopefully it’s an opposite thing maybe they get better by end of year… but man it just looks like a lot of the same old at bats we were watching at end of season. I thought something would change
That’s a great 3-2, but Riley has to make contact there. I don’t care if he fouls it off. These are the situations where he has to be productive. I’m really tired of the empty calories. Do it when it matters.
@deeptocenter I think you bat him 2nd or 3rd to be honest. Think Gleyber should lead off as he always gives you reliable at bats. Colt and Kevin should be in your 2 or 3 spot as of now. Then you can mess around with Riley, Tork and Kerry in that 4,5,6 slot.
Where Kevin McGonigle should bat in the lineup is kind of a tough decision.
On one hand, he’s your best option for a prototypical leadoff hitter. On the other, he’s also probably your best option for driving in runners as well.
