This is a GENIUS device. It is integrated directly into our soldiers tactical vests and uses satellite to communicate with command. It comes pre-loaded with topographic maps and intelligence data to aid soldiers in navigating toward designated safe zones without needing to wait for directions. Rather than speaking over a radio—which could easily expose physical location or be intercepted—this brilliant invention uses encrypted text messages with location updates every few hours. The device transmits data using ultra-short signal bursts and rapid frequency hopping, effectively disguising the communication as random background noise that enemy forces cannot triangulate. It also has mode capabilities to quickly allow realtime location data to aid in rescues. I feel grateful that our soldiers have such tools to keep them alive and get them rescued. It looks like we started using these in 2006.
