Nature degradation is projected to cost the UK economy a 12% loss to GDP over the next decade - greater than the impact of COVID‑19. I recently chaired a summit of UK businesses on nature risk to discuss why nature is fast becoming the next frontier for business resilience.

@edwinhayward Likely to get held up as potential fraud either way. The banks have found a nice way to end quick payments.

If you have to send a huge bank transfer, eg for a house purchase, why not send one or two tiny random payments first? By making two different tiny payments and asking the recipient to confirm both exact amounts, you know for a fact you have entered their bank details correctly.

@TrisOsborneMP You only produce electricity from renewables. That of course is nearly the most expensive in the world and of course a maximum of 20% of our total energy use. Not sure it's the panacea you think it is. Then again, it's ideology not economics you are working with.

It’s happening nearly every day… Every kWh generated from renewables is less use of oil / gas at a time of anxiety and volatility in the Middle East. Let’s power ahead⚡️

NEW 10y bond yields across Europe tumbling on opening after two week ceasefire announced… UK down 20 basis points ie 0.2% to 4.63% FR down 24 bps 3.54% Ge down 17bps Important for fixed mortgages: UK 5y gilt down 23bps 4.25% 2y down 27bps 4.15% This was after avg mortgage rates had risen to 5.9% (2y) and 5.78% (5y) acc to Moneyfacts, having been below 5% on both counts pre war… if today is sustained these should come back down again.

@Consumer_gripes @Trustpilot Of course. I am bombarded with emails about my own listing, been threatened with bad reviews from people who have never used my services, found that a string of expletives about Trustpilot Scam Reviews in my replies to soon gets both removed.

Tommy @TRobinsonNewEra's video of a man being arrested for a Facebook post went viral. In the comments was a reply from @ColchMumOG. She had dared to criticise Simon Mannix the CEO of charity @MercuryTheatre & Chair of child transitioning charity Outhouse. She was arrested by @EssexPoliceUK for criminal damage, the harassment of Mannix, many done via X posts. The CPS did not pursue the allegations.

A lot of people are banking on inheriting their parents’ house as their retirement plan. But their parents are going to need that house to fund their own care. Social care costs can run £50-100k a year. A five year stay in a care home can wipe out the entire value of a property. The wealth transfer that an entire generation is counting on may never arrive

@Consumer_gripes Worthing has a bit of a buzz about it now. Few nice eateries and bars. Nice walk along the promenade. Brighton is just mad for parking.

@CharlotteCGill I know for a fact that in at least two supermarkets. Stopping shoplifters is immediate dismissal. No questions. Designed to protect staff and to prevent legal claims against the business. Remember, it's customer that pay not the business. They are not there to enforce laws.
