Norway has confirmed a major upgrade to one of Europe’s most significant mineral finds.
Geologists have dramatically increased the estimated size of the Fensfeltet (Fen Complex) rare earth deposit in southern Norway, now believed to contain up to 15.9 million metric tons of rare earth oxides — an 80% increase from previous estimates.
Located in the Telemark region, roughly 150 km southwest of Oslo, Fensfeltet is an ancient carbonatite volcanic formation formed millions of years ago. It is now recognized as the largest known rare earth deposit in Europe. These critical minerals — particularly neodymium and praseodymium — are essential for manufacturing permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, electronics, and defense systems.
This updated resource estimate, released in March 2026 by Rare Earths Norway (REN) and prepared by consulting firm WSP, marks a significant geological and strategic milestone. It offers Europe a realistic pathway to reduce its heavy dependence on rare earth imports, which are currently dominated by China.
While the deposit holds enormous potential, challenges remain. Developing the site into a full-scale mining operation will require substantial investment, infrastructure, and navigating environmental and regulatory hurdles. Nevertheless, the find positions Norway as a potential key player in the global supply chain for the minerals that will power the clean energy transition and high-tech industries of the future.
If successfully developed, Fensfeltet could strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy and help secure a more stable, localized supply of the materials critical to sustainable technology.

Everyone keeps saying this about this movie but every clip is like legit pretty cool. Pretty well acted. Pretty well shot. I honestly think people just look back on the old movies with rose tinted glasses. I love starwars but imma be real. Some of the stuff from the old movies are pretty fucking rough. If the new movies came out at the same time theres a good chance that the new movies would be talked about as the better half of the saga.

In which case it would be an example of individual malpractice while we are arguing the effects of transcare as whole fucking field. So yeah.
