@MovieMeets Same here, one of my absolute favourite actors, so much charisma and pathos. I really love Bogdanovich's Saint Jack (1979) too

I have phases of rabbit hole obsession with movies I love, looks to be happening with Chinese Bookie currently, quite fitting it's the 50th anniversary (though I think the 1978 re-edit is superior). Genuinely one of the finest American films in history. Weird, moving, glorious

It starts by putting yourself at risk. "It all began in 1984 when he suffered both second- and third-degree burns to his scalp during a pyrotechnic disaster while filming a Pepsi commercial and was given painkillers to recuperate. In Jackson’s own words, drugs had taken over his life in the years that followed. 'I became increasingly more dependent on the painkillers to get me through the days of my tour,' Jackson says in archived audio, explaining why he canceled the latter part of his 1993 'Dangerous' world tour and announced that he was going into treatment... Jackson was taking Demerol at a whopping 300 milligrams at a time, according to Dr. Drew Pinsky. The pop singer even mentions the substance in his 1997 track 'Morphine...' Jackson had created 19 false aliases to collect different drugs, and Klein had kept a special book noting which prescriptions went to each fake identity, according to Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for LA County.. 'The way that Michael went about getting all these drugs was doctor shopping. He had multiple, different doctors that he was involved with and he would go to ‘Doctor A’ and ask for a sedative, and then he would go to ‘Doctor B’ and may ask for the same one,' Jackson’s plastic surgeon, Dr. Harry Glassman, claims. 'Michael is responsible, to a great extent, for his own demise, but he certainly had a lot of help from the medical community.'" nypost.com/2022/08/29/mic…

Today's shoes: the Jordan 18 Royal for #BlueMonday. The last shoe Jordan played in for the Wizards. Tate Kuerbis design influenced by Italian dress shoes and race car driving shoes; one of my favorite shoes. #kotd Would you wear? What is your favorite Studio Ghibli movie?

@Rob_Motto Ugh...fucking pain in the ass. Every passing year a score looks more and more attractive to me, just start anew and say "Fuck you" to whatever you don't like. But a lack of know-how and the fact that I wouldn't cut it in prison at all are big deterrents lol

Travis Bickle’s mohawk in Taxi Driver wasn't De Niro's idea. It came from Victor Magnotta, a friend of Scorsese's who had served in Vietnam and played a Secret Service agent in the film. Magnotta told them that in Saigon, if you saw a soldier with a mohawk, it meant he was ready to go into a Special Forces operation and you stayed away from him. De Niro couldn't actually shave his head because he was about to start filming The Last Tycoon with Elia Kazan right after. So he called Dick Smith, the makeup artist behind The Godfather and The Exorcist, who later won an Oscar for Amadeus. Smith built a latex bald cap and glued each bit of hair onto it individually. The cap was so uncomfortable that De Niro had to keep his neck completely stiff all day to stop it from peeling off. That stiffness ended up becoming part of the character; Travis doesn't move his head like a normal person in those scenes because De Niro physically couldn't. The whole film cost $1.9 million. The mohawk is still intact and you can visit it at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. Description and photos sourced from Filmatic. Kramer vs. Kramer won the Oscar for Best Picture over Apocalypse Now in 1980. I don’t think the @TheAcademy got this right- I think Apocalypse Now needed to win this award for so many reasons. But I’m not sure I’ve ever seen better on-screen acting than in this film. Have you?

Oh yeah. Altman's #PretaPorter is a genuine satire with both affection and sharp teeth. The Kim Basinger character alone (as well as Stephen Rea's) outwit and outclass those #TDWP clowns. @princeoftyre

@3xchair In reading this review, it seems the filmmakers should have reviewed Altman's Pret-a-Porter. As always, Altman not only outclasses modern filmmakers but was ahead of them. Altman says more about fashion and journalism than any film I've seen since!
