If you define Aztec as Mexica, yeah, you're correct. If you define it as Nahua, then I suspect you're probably wrong. I've never really looked into how much ancestry people in Mexico today have from different Prehispanic groups, my interest is in Prehispanic archeology/history, not genetics

In 1849, Mexican historian Lucas Alaman wrote that there were over one million Criollo Spaniards in Mexico, which was one fifth of New Spain"s population of 6 million. This population was born in Mexico and stayed after independence. They were our Criollo forefathers.

In 1787, a Mexico City official wrote an essay complaining that the bold and cunning negros and mulattos in the city were pulling all the Indigenous & Spanish women. They were getting too much money, flexing on everyone and didn’t respect the caste system. He warned that if their numbers continued to grow, they might decide to kill the Spanish off.
