Netherlands at OSCE

At the request of the Netherlands and 40 other OSCE countries, an investigation was conducted into the torture and ill-treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russia through the ‘Moscow Mechanism’. The report speaks of widespread and systematic violations of int. law. 1/2

Since the start of the war, thousands of Ukrainian civilians have been arbitrarily detained by Russia. Detainees have also been subjected to torture and sexual violence. I strongly condemn these appalling acts, as reported by the @OSCE Moscow Mechanism fact-finding mission. 1/2

The report, requested by the Netherlands and 44 other countries and discussed today in the @OSCE Permanent Council, states that there are reasonable grounds to believe that war crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed. Arbitrary detainees must be released now. 2/2
