Welcome to my Profile! Here I post whatever crap I feel like and sometimes do Transit Adventure Threads, which are all linked below. As a Bay Area native, there is so much to explore and I encourage you to use transit to get there!

@bryanculbertson @NerdTransiting Ultimately, it needs a new bridge, with BART-to-SMART, and a bike lane. But 3 lanes of car traffic would overwhelm San Rafael.

This shuttle is the stupidest things considering the GGT 580 exists. The place that this shuttle is most desperately needed is the SM-Hayward Br. (also this bike path was nice to bike yes, but not a good use of space on this bridge, HOV lane + run more busses)
Marc Joffe@marcjoffe

Caltrans will spend the next 2+ years studying the equity implications of the Richmond San-Rafael bike lane which was serving a few dozen riders on most weekdays. Those riders now get a free shuttle ride over the bridge while drivers pay an $8.50 toll. marinij.com/2026/03/14/ric…

@bryanculbertson I write this on the 150 up to San Rafael right now, and so with this in mind we should also do an HOT lane from Marin City -> SF over the bridge :)

@bryanculbertson I wouldn't mind a shoulder but on the receiving end send 2 lanes north to 101 and 1 lane to Sir Francis Drake, there is space for it really. Another idea would be an HOT lane, as thats basically a bus lane and you get the benefit of some revenue.

@HaydenM16 thats so dumb what - do the drivers actually follow the speed limit of 35 cuz it looked like the parallel road could easily support 60+

on the south dade transit way and this thing is awful. Waiting over a minute at intersections that have the railroad gates. What’s even the point. Bus would be faster on the main road i believe

@duckdoquack According to their documents, the busses at 10 & 11pm respectively got about ~15 riders north of Novato, and therefore this isn't a horrible change. The 15min 101 and 30min 120 r gonna be game changers for Marin & Sonoma access, im super excited for it

Despite what everyone is saying, I'm excited for this! The 101 was slow before, SMART is fast, and the increased 101 frequency is going to be so nice. Great job with timed connections between 120 & 71 :) (im also writing this from a SMART train, otw to Santa Rosa :)

@matty_ice_BTC @jmatnyc @jackcalifano No it like is artificially limited and kinda doesn’t pedal well - trust me I can hit 35 on a normal road bike but getting past 15 on those citi bikes takes more than it’s worth

@jmatnyc @jackcalifano You could try pedaling. 18mph isn’t a fast speed you can’t pedal at

@headwaysmatter Comment that the CitiBike ride mentioned cost 100 dollars when it was an Ebike over the 45 minute threshold which makes it cost more. Prices skyrocket after that timeframe, which makes sense as it then becomes a leisure tool.

@headwaysmatter Living car free just so much easier. No more super long transfer times when driving would save hours. (and I would be transferring to a low ridership line too, so it's not like it should be improved). I wouldn't say cycling is subsidized, I just think it is disingenuous to 2/3
