The wire ping that sent stocks soaring and oil falling was only a snippet of a larger conversation between the EU President and the President of Iran. In that interview, Iran's Pezeshkian said that the US "does not believe in diplomacy" and Hormuz was closed to the aggressors.
Faytuks Network@FaytuksNetwork

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian says the country is ready to end the war, but only if there are guarantees against future attacks.

@conorsen The Iranian "President" claimed to want an end to the war. Problem: He has no power. So the idiot rally will run its course like usual and we'll be back to the starting point.

New — Thune’s back is up against a wall. After Johnson rejected shutdown-ending deal & GOP senators want to cut recess short, it’s getting worse: Trump is now using the funding impasse for his anti-filibuster push. There’s evidence it’s starting to work. punchbowl.news/archive/33126-…

Wtf are you disagreeing with me over then? You’re saying our war is causing massive harm to Europe, I agree. That’s what I wrote above. That’s why they’re mad at us. In one reply you went from arguing it’s under control to ‘Europe should figure it out.’ We created the mess, we should figure it out. It affects us too. Even if we can buy from elsewhere these are global commodities and Americans will pay more for everything now. Enjoy electoral decimation these next few years.

@NickAPappas @bonchieredstate How's Trump flailing? US chemical companies will get their contracted feedstocks from Americas suppliers. Euro corps, not so much. He's holding their feet to the fire. All this time, the American Atlas has carried the weight of its allies, done every little thing. That ends now.

I refuse to believe you guys don't see the problem here. It's one thing for the Europeans not to provide direct support for the operation. It's another for France to deny the use of its airspace for cargo deliveries or for the UK to muddle over domestic base usage. There is no point in being in an alliance that can't provide such basic guarantees of cooperation.

Absolute bullshit. They’re frantically flailing around. “Wars already over” “actually come help us open the Strait” “actually we need minesweepers” “actually we’re lifting sanctions” “we’ll reopen the Strait” “Actually come get your own fuel” “actually we’ll escort tankers through” “actually we didn’t do that yet” “we’ll take the island to secure it” “actually troops won’t be needed.” People are not going to respect you if you insist on lying to their faces. They had no plan at all. They might have anticipated Iran would try to close the straight, but like a college kid who knows he has an exam tomorrow and decides to get drunk instead of studying they did not prepare to handle it.

@NickAPappas @bonchieredstate The preparation for Hormuz is pounding Iranian positions. War isn't a light switch. There is no instant gratification. Attrition takes time. The enemy's infrastructure, hardware and men have to be pared down. Earnest Will took 14 months. Hundreds of commercial ships were hit.

NEW — One case left from the October sitting: Callais v. Louisiana. Alito is the only justice without an opinion so far. A narrowing of Section 2 of the VRA looks certain — real question is how far the Court goes. At this point, any ruling likely comes too late to affect 2026.

BREAKING — In Chiles v. Salazar, the Supreme Court of the United States rules 8–1 that Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy is viewpoint-based regulation of speech and should face stricter judicial scrutiny. Ketanji Brown Jackson is the lone dissenter.

President Trump appears to confirm our story this morning, telling countries to “go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. You’ll have to start learning to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore.”

NEW: Trump told aides he’s willing to end the U.S. military campaign against Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, administration officials said, likely extending Tehran’s firm grip on the waterway and leaving a complex operation to reopen it for a later date.

Trump's approval rating just fell below 40 percent in our tracking for the first time. And his net approval rating is now -17.4, also a new low and down about 5 points over the past several weeks.

@HAHazony @michaelbd We are doing a good job hurting the regime and its capabilities. But that's not all that matters to most people. 80%+ would not trade that for global energy and food shortages, and the need to send in ground troops to have a shot at alleviating those shortages.

@MattZeitlin Look I think this is just some dumbass comment made in a state of denial. Trump says a lot of dumb things, and forgets most of the dumb things he says. Would be shocked to my core if he really did just walk away and the entire world can't talk him out of it.
