West Virginia State Senators are "confused" about why E-Verify is needed, because it’s "already against the law” to hire illegal residents. But THAT is the point. Yes, it’s against the law, but employers don’t have to VERIFY work authorization. E-Verify closes this loophole.

They passed amendments that carve out exemptions so the bill would barely apply to anyone. Employers with less than 50 employees are exempt. This is the vast majority of WV employers. They also removed the requirement that employers verify legal status before hiring 🤯... (2/3)
