I’m told by a source in South Carolina that Senator Lindsey Graham has dealt with blood pressure issues since his 40s. His father also died of cardiac arrest at age 69. I know the conspiracy theories won’t stop, but sometimes life just happens. Not everything is a conspiracy.

From what Trump said on NBC, I’d bet lunch for 2 at @LizardsThicket that @PamelaEvette is picked by @henrymcmaster to fill out the term and gets both of their endorsements in the special.

The most telling part of this is where he admits they stopped talking after Trump. Considering Graham remained friends with scores of anti-Trump pols, journos and pundits, it's a sad commentary on Adam that his TDS caused him to stop being friends with someone. Sadly common.

I met Senator Graham twelve or so years ago when I was invited to Washington DC, to meet with several Senators. At the time I was being encouraged to run for the U.S. Senate. I will never forget our interaction. Walking into his office felt surreal because he was a political legend. Senator Graham: “Son, tell me why you want to run for the U.S. Senate.” Me: “I don’t want to (run for Senate).” Senator Graham: “That’s perfect. Go with that.” Me: “Sir, I’m being serious.” Senator Graham: “I know. We need people like you.” After that, we had a nice conversation about military service and a variety of other topics. He took the time to listen to me and never seemed in a hurry to end the meeting. Regardless of whether someone agreed with his views, my impression was that he was a genuinely gracious man who made time for people. He was also an impactful leader whose influence on American politics will be remembered for years to come.

I had relentlessly criticized Lindsay Graham for years when I was removed from the ballot in 2022. At the time the most recent polling had me soundly winning the race for Congress. Lindsay Graham got my phone number and called me wanting to contribute $ to my lawsuit to get back on the ballot, despite my criticism, and said it was unAmerican that people wouldn’t get the chance to vote for me. I’m sure he would’ve voted for someone else if he lived in the district but still, he wanted people to get to vote for who they wanted to vote for and ultimately, for people told decide the election instead of a dozen people in a back room. Ultimately the lawsuit didn’t restore my name on the ballot (the back room won) but I was always perplexed and moved by him doing that because he knew what I had publicly said about him and he knew I was more right wing than him. Still, he wanted to help fix it. He even offered to call SEC members who had voted to remove my name from the ballot. For all my foreign policy criticism of Lindsay, this was a totally genuine/non-cynical offer. I told him I wouldn’t stop criticizing his foreign policy and he laughed, saying he wouldn’t count on it. Lots of people do things for cynical/bad reasons in DC but he genuinely just wanted to help because he saw it as totally wrong to steal that choice from voters. It showed me a side of him I hadn’t seen or imagined. So, yeah, Lindsay Graham was a man of complexities. Also incredibly cool he adopted his sister after his parents died and managed all of that as a young man. I sincerely hope no state actor was involved in his death because that’s the last thing the world needs BUT it must be fully investigated since he was very active in both the Russia and Iran conflicts. Especially since he just left Ukraine. Wishing peace and God’s love to his family!

It’s no secret I disagreed with Senator Graham on plenty of issues. But he’s an absolute legend for this.

Elaine and I are saddened to hear of the sudden and tragic loss of Sen. Lindsey Graham. Senator Graham was a son of South Carolina who loved our state dearly. His family and friends will be in our prayers.

Senator Lindsey Graham loved America, South Carolina, and the Senate. I am saddened by his sudden passing. He dedicated his life to serving his country, and he will be deeply missed.  I am praying for his family, staff, and all who loved him. Rest in peace, Senator.

South Carolina lost a devoted public servant. Senator Lindsey Graham dedicated his life to serving our state and our country. His passing is a tremendous loss. Elaine and I are praying for his family, his staff, and the countless friends whose lives he touched. May God grant them peace and strength in the days ahead.

Listen, I get it. Everyone has their preferred replacement for Lindsey Graham. Keep those conversations private if you must. The man’s body isn’t even cold yet.
