New release of the Cell Model Passports Database (cellmodelpassports.sanger.ac.uk). We've updated flagging of germline cancer predisposition variants & added 21 new mesothelioma models with @MesobanK. Thousands of people use our Passports each month - have you tried it yet? @DepMapSanger

New publication from the Sellers lab! We benchmarked 10 CRISPR libraries for dual-gene knockout screens, and a spCas9 system with different tracrRNAs consistently show superior performance. Promising strategy for future paralog & gene interaction screens! go.nature.com/3L1jZJn

I'm hiring postdocs to join my team at @CGM_MGH & Broad! We study patterns of rare variation in large genomic datasets (like gnomAD), and leverage those into insights about genetic risk for disease. If you are interested, please reach out or apply here: partners.taleo.net/careersection/…

Got an RNA-seq dataset with 50, 100, 200+ samples? Plug it into a differential expression tool and hope for the best? No! You need to consider QC, EDA, and modeling technical variation, or else risk generating spurious results. A thread on papers, methods, and best practices:

New data released on Cell Model Passports (cellmodelpassports.sanger.ac.uk). We have added mutation, CNV and RNAseq data for more patient-derived organoid cultures. Many of the organoids can be accessed through @officialatcc as part of the Human Cancer Model Initiative. #organoid

Don't miss out. If you're a data scientist who loves integrating lots and lots of complex multi-dimensional genomics and CRISPR data this is a great opportunity. Closing Feb 1st. jobs.sanger.ac.uk/vacancy/senior…

It's early days for me, but I can't imagine regretting my move into industry soon as I get to do what I enjoy most: doing research to save patient's lives. Great thread on moving from academia into industry

How to leave academia (thread). 1. Make the decision When it's time to leave academia, you'll know about it. If you're still unsure, it's not time yet. That's when you make a decision. 1/n @AcademicChatter #AcademicChatter
