@marymoss1971 It's fortunately not behind the invite wall any more. One of the reasons it was picked as the place to move too.

⚠ Pathfinder Project is moving ⚠ Due to recent events and the general quality of Twitter declining. Pathfinder Project is moving to a platform which has a similar name to the song Commander Data sang at Riker and Troi's wedding. Find us there as Pathfinder-project

@odysseys_end @Wolf359Project Tunnel the way they could at warp, slipstream missions tended to be carried out by selecting a sector or system to study based on charts or astrometric sensor data and going straight to it. Leading to fears of 'missing out on the good stuff' that may be found en route.

@odysseys_end @Wolf359Project The mainstream introduction of slipstream technology to Starfleet vessels also led to much more structured exploration. Where ships like the original NX and Constitution Enterprises would pick a direction and see what they found, as sensors couldn't be used while in a slipstream-

I would probably defer to @odysseys_end but with the advent of Slipstream I expect the reach of starfleets exploration mission was far greater than previous

@Wolf359Project After the attack on Mars, Starfleet backed off from exploration to focus on defending their borders. We don't know how long that lasted, but when they were ready to resume exploration do you think it was done on a smaller scale than previously?

The Intrepid Holodeck was designed as a tool first and recreation area second, hence the more industrial approach. It was also designed for easier maintenance access and with the ships overall modularity in mind. In 21st century terms, they went with the IKEA approach.

Going back to Holodecks, the Galaxy class Holodeck was designed for use by Starfleet crew, visiting dignitaries and families. All the internal workings and sharp edges (got to child proof of when you have children around) were hidden behind a sleek exterior.

For reasons we will go into, there was a distinctly different design philisophy when designing Starfleets Galaxy and Intrepid classes. The Galaxy was in many ways a showcase of Starfleets technological advancement and luxury offering.

@galaxyclassproj @Wolf359Project I haven't seen fan fiction claim its the final say? It's people's own ideas. It's all fan fiction purely by the virtue of being unlicensed fiction written by fans. There's no need for any tension between fan works. We're all just people telling our own stories for fun.

@Pathfinder2374 @Wolf359Project Fans need to be mindful that it is just their viewpoint or fan fiction, its not the final say. No one is more right or less than another. We basically all exist in our own verses.

It didn't matter that all the critiques: Reset button! Uneven character development! Missed potential! Contradictory decision making from characters! Defanging an enemy over repeat encounters! Changing the established canon! Also applied to their favourites. 5/11

But continuing to try and force that won't help and worse, could lead to you alienating not just new fans, but any fan who likes what you don't. Nothing new changes the episodes you love, you can have your own headcanon. Just don't force it on others. 11/11

Like @Wolf359Project did for a lot of 90s Trek content! I've rambled a bit, but the message here is that all fans are fans. Love what you love, but put what you don't like to the side and leave it there. You could pick it up later and find you love it. 10/11
