The US could take Kharg but it won’t end the war. It will spike oil prices and pull us in deeper. It’s a disastrous option. Let me explain. If you’re Iran, a US seizure of Kharg leaves you two choices: a) make major concessions to get it back and resume oil exports; or b) escalate much more aggressively targeting energy infrastructure across the region. Now look at how Trump has behaved whenever oil infrastructure is at stake: - His staff quickly distanced the US from strikes on oil terminals in Tehran - He threw the Israelis under the bus after attacks on South Pars led to Iranian retaliation and major damage to Qatari LNG facilities - He’s already loosened sanctions on Russia to keep oil flowing - He’s even considered easing sanctions on Iranian oil and has allowed them to continue exporting through the Strait of Hormuz The pattern is clear and it’s likely how the Iranians will view it: Trump is deeply sensitive to oil prices and when faced with threats to oil prices he backs down.  So what happens in the context of a US operation on  Kharg, which will certainly cause prices to surge? The likely Iranian response is predictable: more missiles and UAVs targeting major energy infrastructure across the Gulf to raise costs, spike prices further, and try to get Trump to back off. And remember: Iran is already absorbing enormous punishment — leadership targeted, navy degraded, nuclear and missile programs hit, critical infrastructure under attack. Yet they’re still fighting. What evidence is there that taking Kharg is the silver bullet that suddenly changes their calculus? Yes — the US can take Kharg. I hope if it happens it’s fast and with minimal casualties. But it’s unlikely to end the war. Much more likely: it deepens the conflict, causes more damage across the region, and sends oil prices soaring. Better to look for an off-ramp if one exists

Iran has worked for years to get sanctions relief through diplomacy. It has failed. 3 weeks of war, the US has offered sanctions relief to Iran without Tehran even asking for it...
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

🚨U.S. to allow Iran to get ~14 billion dollars (!!!) in oil revenue 🚨This is a huge financial concession to Iran by the U.S. 🚨It is the first time U.S. is buying Iranian oil since 1996 🚨It's all happening in the middle of a war against...Iran

Iran’s ballistic missile targeting of the Diego Garcia US‑UK military base - about 4,000 km (2,485 miles) from Iranian territory — implies Tehran’s missiles may have significantly greater range than Tehran has publicly acknowledged, the Wall Street Journal reported.

This is wild. The @WhiteHouse plagiarized its reason for launching a war on Iran from @FDD, a cutout of Israeli intelligence. Side-by-side screenshots in the 🧵

The most definitive White House statement purporting to justify the Israel-US war on Iran was its March 2, 2026 statement entitled "The Iranian Regime's Decades of Terrorism against American Citizens". whitehouse.gov/articles/2026/… After a brief editorial opening, the article lists 44 incidents with a total of 992 US deaths. The source of the data wasn't given. Where did it come from? Unlike the Iraq war or the Russia collusion allegation, the reporting didn't come from an intelligence assessment, flawed or otherwise. It turns out that the list was plagiarized by the White House from a June 19, 2025 list (fdd.org/analysis/2025/…) prepared by a former AIPAC employee (Tzvi Kahn) for a think tank (FDD) founded "to provide education to enhance Israel's image in North America". The think tank's original identity was "EMET (Hebrew for 'truth')". The June 19, 2025 publication was literally on the eve of the first US bombing of Iran on June 21, 2025. In this thread, I'll compare each and every item in the White House statement to the corresponding item in the original list by the former AIPAC employee. The list is virtually identical. Any slight changes are always in the change of ratcheting up the underlying allegation.

Incredible footage of Iranian missile striking inside the old city of Jerusalem. War doesn’t care about safeguarding heritage, religion or culture. It only degrades and erases them.

Two things: -US plan to take Kharg will only be feasible after another "month" of bombing. -the idea is to force Iran to capitulate by using Kharg as a bargaining chip; I have a pretty strong gut feeling that's not going to work. axios.com/2026/03/20/ira…
