@PraedythFella @NikTek So have I, but that was rare and in between. But to each their own how they feel about it. I have never had to verify my licenses in the context like now. Just turned on the PS5 and some games are giving me the prompt still and some are not while offline. With respect.

The new DRM on the PlayStation update is a disgrace to gaming, Sony should make a statement whenever this PlayStation Support message is real or faked. This issue with this 30-Day Timer being applied to all new purchases isn't about having an active internet connection, but the concept of ownership. Sony is taking the rights away from users who purchase their games digitally. If you go offline for more than 30 days, you're locked from playing a game that you bought with your own money. Your console shouldn't require an active online internet connection to verify the purchase or the validity of a video-game that you've purchased previously in my opinion.

@chris_234__uhhh That would be amazing. Honestly I did give it a good go I've about 25 to 30 hours on Steam but I was getting my ass beat 😅

@PraedythFella That's fair. To this day I still wish this game had a single player campaign completely separate from the extraction mode.

I was expecting it to be a game I played for a bit, maybe 50ish hours and drop it and check in every now and then......I have 200 hours played as of today. So uh, yeah, Marathon exceeded my expectations.

@GAMENREACTIONS @NikTek When I owned a Sony console before I have had to restore licences on many occasions over the years.

@PraedythFella @NikTek When I purchased digital media (video games), I was able to play those games offline and never had to verify the license within or after 30 days. This is a first with the latest update.

@Hibzster The key word is licence, you never owned the game. Y'all played yourselves by not reading the TOS

I’m not even a gamer but what Sony is doing is so nasty. If you don’t play a game you own after 30 days, you lose license to it & they can charge you…they’re really trying to get rid of ownership

Update: A user asked Ps support and confirmed DRM issue is intentional and not Bug.

@MTashed Honestly I would recommend. I took a few seasons away and came back last week for the end of the season. It is in a much better state and looks to get even better with Lord of Hatred

People really saying “just connect to the internet not a big deal” my brother in Christ that’s not the point. God forbid a natural disaster happens or you can’t pay your WiFi bill one month and just can’t play games you PAID for until you reconnect. It doesn’t matter if you have internet, it’s a matter of principle. You shouldn’t be okay with PS arbitrarily taking away access to games you spent your hard earned money on. The more comfortable you get with this the worse it will get. We’re frogs in the pot and they’re slowly raising the heat and some of yall aren’t noticing.

I hope this DRM issue with PlayStation isn't what it looks like. As someone who, at times, will go months without turning on my PS5, this could affect me. 😬

@Pupsker Connect to the internet to renew your licence every 30 days even a phone hot-spot will do. It's 2026 ffs. Besides nobody owns digital games on most platforms they're on anyway. GOG being the exception I'm aware of.

Dang, looks like the Sony 30 day internet connection DRM is real. Unfortunate times.
