Iran started doing bad things that Saudi Arabia and Arab gulf states and Israel didn’t like. 1. building ballistic missiles. Basically the other side of the coin. You need a warhead and the missile. So taking over chunks with some jackasses and then claiming permanent control 3. Drone development, which raises the cost of attacking them after 1 is done. So Trump tore up the jcpoa during his first term. Iran continued all 3 and then started enriching more uranium. Things just escalated from there.
