Imagine a game like WoW, but the in-game currency is backed by a reserve of Bitcoin 🤔

If community disagrees on changes, two new communities can arise (forking). 2) Your character is yours and is governed by the rules, the developer cannot just delete it.

What's also impressive is that the Ethereum community seem to be greatly enthusiastic about Dark Forest, which is one of the very few games aiming to be fully decentralized.

1/3 Sad to say that work has stopped on @EthernalWorld. While I was on the side-lines since March (only helping on smart contract and game design), it was great to see the game I originally created growing. @OhJia and Lumir did a great job. Sad to see it ends.

How to get people interested in fully decentralized gaming? Promise them the ability to farm crops, upon which they can sell futures and bet upon the yield of corn vs pork bellies? 🤔

1/5: A new #ethereum @gitcoin grants round is coming up soon and I have some concerns I took a quick look at the grants and noticed few projects there that are either already (VC) funded, have had or will have a token/governance sale or are even not open source Is that okay?🤔

@EAThomson If the game would have big reserves for a stable currency with a very good sink, you could have the game to issue stable currency eg. when you kill monsters and then players would return it back to the game via some powerful moneysinks. That would be something!

@EAThomson I think you should have multiple currencies. One that floats and one that is stable. As otherwise the game cannot really print more currency. Optimally you could print and burn currency in the same amounts (money sinks and sources).

Decentralized gaming needs decentralized payments. Integrating a stablecoin into a gaming chain I think is a good thing to do! Enables decentralized subscriptions! Plus, holding stablecoins in-game is good against MUDflation.

In addition, I have a passion for fully decentralized gaming. It is still very early days with a lot of foundational work happening right now. This is definitely an exciting area for more people to get involved! Look out for more tweets on this in the future!

I recently left Web3 Foundation and am now taking something of a vacation. 🙂 Going forward I will still be an active Polkadot community, which includes keeping my unofficial website and Reddit going!

There have been Ponzi-style games on Ethereum for years (mostly targeting Asian users)... ...only now, some consider them an "existential threat" to Ethereum and DeFi, because they're targeted at a Western audience. Not a fan of these games, BTW- just an interesting dichotomy.

#darkforest is a 4x game on ethereum. There's one hour until the beta test universe cools. After 4 days of 'mining' fog of war on my poor little laptop I didn't even see 1/50th of the (expanding) universe. I could see this being a completely open source, scriptable Eve online.

The last limited art in the Ethernal x Hermippe Heroes series (by @komiya_ma) will release this Thu! Going to be a special one 👀
