In den sozialen Medien freuen sich die Ukraine Fanboys gerade darüber, dass Moskau "zerbombt" wird und es wohl zivile Opfer geben wird! Wenn dann die Antwort folgt heulen die Selben wieder rum!

I know supporters of Ukraine will cheer this on, but these kinds of hits will no more knock Russia out of the war than the past three years of Russian strikes throughout Ukraine have not knocked them out of the war. HOWEVER… These big public strikes on important centers are more likely to spur Russia to EXPAND its war against Ukraine rather than cause them to contract. Thus, the perverse likely outcome: *successful* Ukrainian strikes into the heart of Russia will push Putin to hit Ukraine even harder, killing more UAF soldiers and destroying more of the country. What these strikes WON’T do is help Ukraine win the war.

@Bar_tolmi Pretty confident no one outside of Russian bot farms believes that. Moscow burning is a PR break for the Kremlin to take attention of the asphyxiation of Crimea.

@clashreport 5-7 drones through apparently. The optics in Moscow look admittedly bad, but they hit oil storage tanks which cause the thick black smoke. Much like the Israeli strike on Iran early in the war. This will have no real effect on the war and only acts as fuel for Russian revenge.

A swarm of at least 6 Ukrainian Sichen kamikaze drones — similar in design to Russia's Geran (Shahed-type) drones — was filmed flying one after another toward the Moscow oil refinery during this morning's strike. The Sichen, first unveiled in April 2026, reportedly carries a warhead up to 1,400 km with a top speed of 200 km/h. Ukraine used nearly its entire range of drone types in the Moscow strike to try to guarantee it could break through air defenses.

I don’t think people understand the stupidity of striking deep into Moscow is. The odds for #WW3 just rised significantly. Have no doubt, Russia will not consider this as a strike from Ukraine. This is a direct result of NATO interference. NATO/European countries has enabled this by backing Ukraine with intelligence, weapons, weapon manufacturing and money. This is simply made possible because of them. This is absolutely nothing to cheer for, the coke actor is gambling with #WW3 more than ever and somehow he is backed by our European leaders doing so. Total idiocy. European people need to understand this, because they will soon get stuck in war if not. Idiots.

@beau_brummell @BohuslavskaKate I would not be so quick to say drones won't win the war. I'll grant you they won't do it alone but we might be a a break point where the nature of war has changed. Ukraine is clearly ahead in drones. Both in numbers and quality + control. Your interview aired two months ago.

@Proxy_Kotite @BohuslavskaKate Where are these casualty estimates coming from exactly? The head of Ukrainian drone warfare was on 60 Minutes recently and was asked if they are ahead in drones. He said, "We are at parity with Russia." Appreciated the honesty. Drones alone aren't going to win the war.

HODGES: I don't think Russia is bottomless pit of manpower. Many of the youngest ones are either dead or have fled the country. Year ago, I heard Putin complaining there weren't enough people to work in the factories. Well, no shit, because they're all dead, gone, or deployed. The vast majority of Russian troops come from well outside St. Petersburg and Moscow. They come from poorer regions of Russian Federation, where people are happy to take signing bonuses to join the army. Kremlin seems to have studiously avoided any mobilization that would require pulling people from Moscow and St. Petersburg, because it would then be impossible to hide the scale of the disaster.

If WWII and the Cold War had really been about communism, the collapse of the Soviet Union should have ended the confrontation. Instead, the USSR disappeared, communism is gone, yet Russia remains the designated adversary. And, just like Stalin envisioned, Germany is gearing up to revenge for the defeat in WWII, only the role of the new Furher has been assigned to Zelensky.

@beau_brummell @BohuslavskaKate Russia has already lost 2 million men and you are defining combat age up to 64 years. Removing more young men from the labor force will hinder the Russian economy severely. The burn rate is 30-35,000 casualties per month. Hodges is right. This can't go on forever.

@BohuslavskaKate Russia’s adult male population (aged 18–64) is estimated at about 48.17 million people as of 2025. As of 2026, Ukraine has approximately 14.3 million adult males. Who has more manpower to throw into the fight? If Russia's not a "bottomless pit," how can Ukraine be?

@BrianMcDonaldIE Russia and St Petersburg have 19 million of that total. After that not one Russian city has 2 million spread across 11 time zones. The point seems valid to me.

If you really spent 7 years in Russia, it's incredible that you left it so poorly informed. Russia has 16 cities with over a million people, not “two major cities and a handful.” Around 48 million people live in those cities (counting Greater Moscow and Greater St Petersburg). Then you have plenty of perfectly nice smaller cities like Sochi, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Tyumen, Yaroslavl, Tomsk, Veliky Novgorod, etc. So the idea that 110–115 million Russians live in “squalor worse than most of the third world” is total bullshit. There are some pretty bad places in Russia (very regrettable, yet hardly a major surprise for such a huge country that endured 70 years of an ultimately failed Soviet communism experiment and decades of economic turmoil), but your claim is just pub-talk from a myopic western expat, with an axe to grind.
Yaakov Lui-Hyden 🅰️uthor@LuiYaakov

I have lived in Russia and former CIS for 20 years, travelling to Russia for longer than that. 7 years straight in Russia. Moscow is Moscow and no Russian considers it representative of Russia. You have two other major cities then a handful of cities with 1 million plus. All quite nice. Then you have 110-115 million living in squalor worse than most of the third world. You will find it hard to find an honest Russian who disagrees with me.
