How do you discern truth from fiction if thinking itself is augmented by AI? The Keyes Protocol explores this from a spiritual and technical perspective in the setting of an action sci-fi thriller. a.co/d/07R19yGE

@PyresMagicka My vote would be to ditch the first stressful thing (which is unpleasant) for the second, blessed thing. 🤣 But that would be my vote and we both already know that you're the more impressive of the two of us. 🤣

Day 4: My former love looked at me this morning from across the table. “We had such good times together, babe. How can you just leave us behind?” I tried to explain, it’s not you it’s me. I just need a break. My heart can’t handle the tension. From behind me, my wife asks sleepily, “Hun, why are you talking to the coffee pot?”

Day 3.5: The sweating has begun. I am now permanently annoyed. What do you mean it is only 11:56am?

@PyresMagicka I’m waiting for Day 7 when you yank the cord of the coffee maker out of the wall, then hold the plug high in the air and say in Mel Gib-sian: “Freedom!”

@tod_1992 Hear me out: so in order to get better at this one thing that is stressful and hurts (running) I need to do this other thing that also is stressful and hurts (quitting caffeine) so that I can increase my endurance to do the first stressful thing longer.

@PyresMagicka I’m confident you can do this! I have no idea why you’re doing this, of course.

@PyresMagicka I'm actually using that phenomenon for one of my characters after he experiences one of the most traumatic things he ever could

Interestingly enough, the same thing happens with unresolved trauma. We stuff it deep and compartmentalize in order to muscle through and function. Then we do something that isn’t busy distracting work and suddenly– PTSD!! The memories surface, the anxieties recycle. It doesn’t ask permission to present itself; it demands your undivided attention until you get back to your stoic grit, or do the healthy thing and discuss it with God. Somehow these are related. The trauma response and the creative process. I don’t understand it. But there’s something here that is awesome and inspiring.

@PyresMagicka My best ideas for my book never came to me while I stared at the draft; they always came when I went for a walk, did something insanely mundane, or just sat still. You hit the nail on the head!

I remember reading Einstein saying some of his best conceptual breakthroughs happened when he played his violin. There’s something about intermittent pressure and play that benefits imagination. Visualize a stock pot on the stove. It’s at a low simmer. The ingredients are cooking, softening, mixing. Then you take the lid off and a wonderful steaming aroma fills your nose. I think these times we step away from the page to reflect gives us these delicious flavors of imagination precisely because we took the lid off of our pressure focus. So that’s WHY it happens. For the “OK but how do I capture it on the page?” question. If your aromatic imaginings are like mine, they’re mostly a short scene or image, with a lot of emotional gravitas. I start by roughly describing what I saw or heard, rather than draft a perfect step by step recreation. What detail stood out? Unfurl it.

@bestofStarTrek @joeroganhq Dark era of climate denial. Lmao. When global warming first hit the headlines in the 80s, my colleagues and I had a good look at the science. As soon as we saw the politicians and activists take over the narrative (often for personal gain, right Mr. Gore?), we were done.

I just stole this cool image for us to play an engagement game(I promise I'm not going to propose to anyone). 🤫 What color are your eyes? Mine are a boring light brown. I've marked it below, I'll leave the original image in the comments for anyone who wants to use it.

I’m weaning myself off of the coffee. Day 1: it’s not so bad. I have made a very nice (and very large) cup of tea. I drank that most of the day and felt fine. Barely touched my one cup of coffee. This is going to be easy! Day 2: Another very large cup of tea. Half a cup of coffee leftover from yesterday’s pot. Felt annoyed at 4pm. Went to bed at 8:30pm, suddenly exhausted. Day 3: Woke up with brain cramps, sore eyes, no desire for tea at all. My running buddy says quitting coffee is physically harder than quitting painkillers. I wonder if I should try them instead. Through the haze I am making my tea anyway. Wife put on a pot of coffee. The temptress seduces!!
