How on earth can it cost $30 million and three years for the NYC government to build a grocery store in Harlem? There are *dozens* of grocery stores for sale, all over New York City, for less than $5M. Many are less than $1M. This seems like a scam. (or vanity project)

Why do smash-and-grabs keep happening in Chicago? Thieves just rammed a Jeep into a River North gas station at 5 a.m. and walked off with the ATM. It’s almost as if there are zero consequences for crime in this city. But that couldn’t possibly be it.

@bazidoglu @diol2n here in NYC the gov't says that they spend $91K USD per homeless person. You'd like to think that means they give that money to the homeless but that's just what it cost to run all the programs. That money goes to many hands before it arrives to the homeless.

@JRobFromMN Kroger runs at 1.7% profit margin. The most efficient grocery store in the world barely turns a profit. There is a truly zero percent chance city grocery can ever work without massive MASSIVE subsidies at taxpayer expense.

So with a TON of regulations waived, costs absorbed by the tax payers, the project still has a 10x budget,(which they will go way over)

@karl_special @ThePeterMick Almost certain it's made in China. I believe nearly all but a few exclusive Casios are made in Japan these days. The case and band by skxmod is from China.
