On the auspicious World Forestry Day 2026 the Derjang Eco-Tourism Site was ceremoniously inaugurated by Sri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Government of India. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in promoting eco-friendly tourism, conservation of natural resources, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Agasti Behera, Hon’ble MLA, Chhendipada; Shri Pratap Pradhan, Hon’ble MLA, Angul; and the Sarpanch of Benagadia Gram Panchayat, reflecting strong public representation and community participation. Senior administrative and forest officials were also present, including Shri Satyabrata Bhoi, IG, Talcher; Shri Nitish Kumar, DFO, Angul; Shri Rahul Jain, SP, Angul; Shri Sidharth Jain, ACF; Shri Bidyadhar Sagar, ACF; and Shri Krishna Chandra Sahu, ACF, Angul. Combing operations under the "Jibedaya Programme" were conducted across all Forest Ranges of the Angul Forest Division

The Circle-Level Capacity Development Programme (Day-1) was successfully held at the Black Diamond Conference Hall in the presence of Dr. Sanjay Kumar Swain, RCCF Angul, Sri Nitish Kumar, DFO Angul, Sri Sumit Kar, DFO Dhenkanal, Sri Santosh Kopula, DFO Athmallik, Sri Gadadhara Patra, DFO Satkosia, Sri Sidharth Jain, ACF Angul, and other officials and field staff. Forest Fire Awareness with Culture & Community at Jarapada Range, Angul Division: On 06 March 2026, the Jarapada Range of Angul Forest Division organized a Forest Fire Awareness Program in the villages of Tabada, Tapdhol, Antulia, and Laxmanapur under the Antulia Section. The initiative aimed to sensitize local communities about the importance of preventing forest fires and protecting nearby forests and wildlife. To make the awareness program more engaging and culturally connected, the event featured a vibrant performance of traditional Danda Nrutya, creatively blending cultural heritage with environmental education. The program encouraged active community participation and highlighted the vital role of villagers in safeguarding forests and ensuring a fire-free environment.

Successful Combing Operation under Jibedaya Programme: On 03 March 2026, combing operations under the Jibedaya Programme were successfully conducted across all ranges of the Angul Forest Division under the supervision of Shri Nitish Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO). The operation witnessed the active participation of Range Officers, Foresters, Forest Guards, squad members, Gaja Mitra members of the Angul Forest Division, and field staff from the Satkosia Wildlife Divisions. The initiative focused on monitoring wildlife activity to ensure the safety and well-being of animals, preventing illegal activities such as hunting and encroachment, detecting unauthorized logging, and identifying environmental threats including potential disease outbreaks. The data collected during the operation will contribute significantly to maintaining ecological balance, conserving natural habitats, and safeguarding the rich biodiversity of the Angul Forest Division for future generations. ✨Satkosia Tiger Reserve✨, brought under Project Tiger in 2007, derives its name from the spectacular Satkosia Gorge (“seven kos”) carved by the Mahanadi River and is constituted by Satkosia Gorge Wildlife Sanctuary together with adjoining reserve forests across Angul and Nayagarh districts of Odisha. The reserve represents an Eastern Ghats landscape of tropical dry and moist deciduous forests, riverine forests, deep gorges and sandy river islands along the Mahanadi. The initiative involved coordinated efforts from all Range Officers of the Angul Division, Fire Officers, all foresters, forest guards, staff members, Gaja Saathis, Gaja Mitras, and dedicated forest fire protection squads from every range. These drills were organized to enhance preparedness, strengthen rapid response systems, and ensure seamless coordination among field teams to effectively prevent and control forest fire incidents. Forest Fire Prevention Awareness Programme Conducted Across Angul Forest Division Forest Fire Prevention Awareness Programmes were conducted across all ranges of the Angul Forest Division in the presence of Sri Krushna Chandra Sahoo, ACF, Angul Division, along with all Range Officers of the Angul Division, Fire Officers, Kenduleaf staff, and representatives from NEWS NGO. The programme witnessed active participation from staff members, Gaja Saathis, Gaja Mitras, and forest fire protection squads from all ranges of the Angul Forest Division. The sessions included detailed discussions on the causes of forest fires, preventive measures, early detection systems, rapid response mechanisms, and the crucial role of frontline staff and community volunteers in minimizing fire incidents.
