@montie I can’t understand how you tie yourself in such knots for this man! Hes achieved nothing! 40+ years in the ME has surely taught us that a moral cause to act isn’t sufficient - you have to know you can win and force change - none of that will happen now and its Trumps fault

No. Trump didn't lose. The West lost. In the last few weeks we've proven comprehensively that we are decadent. We are unwilling (not unable) to bear the cost of tackling an existential threat. We'll reap what our civilisational weakness has shown.
Daniel Hannan@DanielJHannan

Trump has just lost a war to Iran. I would liken it to the Suez débâcle except that, at Suez, Britain successfully swept Egyptian resistance aside. We were defeated by Eisenhower’s hostility, not Nasser’s tanks. This time, the US just flat out lost - and the world is vastly worse off for it.

@iainmartin1 @iainmartin1 unless I’m going mad…having more secure supply of any % of global demand that isn’t going through contested shipping lanes gives all a more secure supply? Really waiting for someone to say why that analysis is wrong…presumably that also helps prices long term?

@LBC @JeevunSandher But isn’t the basic point that lower supply is driving up prices and creating potential for shortages (at whatever price)? If we can increase global output that isn’t reliant on contested shipping lanes then the world has a more secure supply! Happy to be corrected…

Just watched Louis Theroux Inside the Manosphere on Netflix. Did it really teach us anything we didn't know before? Really not sure it did, to be honest. I really wanted to understand what motivates these so-called Influencers beyond money and notoriety.

@IainDale “…And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” We shouldn’t do anything at any price but if Pac Americana is dying then a united Europe is essential and we should stop catastrophising every time it’s suggested…

@spectator @jhansonradio …to invest in their UK entities and a large (as a %) public sectors where new money goes on fighting fires rather than long term investment in productivity improvements. High energy costs also an issue of course 3/3

@spectator @jhansonradio Tech players in the world which naturally have higher productivity for digital output. I don’t doubt that less working from home ins beneficial for individuals and businesses but it is not the root of our productivity crisis which has far more to do with companies less willing

What’s curious about the backlash to Farage’s comments is that it comes from all quarters. The influential right-wing commentator Mahyar Tousi called the comments ‘100 per cent false and out of touch with the 21st century workforce’. While Rupert Lowe, admittedly no fan of Farage these days, said ‘blaming working from home for Britain’s troubles is just so lazy’. ✍️ James Hanson spectator.com/article/farage…

@GayoCaesar @MrHarryCole @UnderSecPD The first amendment covers freedom of speech - the consequence isn’t the issue it’s the hypocrisy of criticising one govt for attacking free speech (punishing people for the views expressed on social media) whilst doing exactly the same thing…

NEW: “Order in the streets and liberty in the tweets” @UnderSecPD warns law to shield US from Ofcom threats is coming as she says UK has “telegraphed authoritarian intentions” “The Labour Party has not distinguished itself with advocacy for free speech or sanity on migration.”

@GayoCaesar @MrHarryCole @UnderSecPD Wrong I’m afraid. The 1st along with most elements relating to rights does not have a citizenship requirement. Everyone on American soil is protected by the constitution…as inconvenient as that might be for those who don’t respect the rule of law…

@TJAWindsor @MrHarryCole @UnderSecPD Look forward to seeing your evidence. In the UK violent crime is both at an all time low and almost entirely perpetrated by Brits. Besides that you’re not actually addressing the point which is the hypocrisy of the statements about the UK given actual US policy.

@GNRailUK What you’ve just done there makes no sense - empty train rolled away with hordes of passengers on the platform, 3 loads coming up late from London…just once it would be nice if you thought about your passengers convenience

@GNRailUK some updates on this evenings issues would be helpful. On the 1618 from KGX to KLN which is currently c30 mins late, stuck in congestion and terminating at CBG…are we likely to get north of Cambridge?

@GNRailUK Surely the sensible thing is just for this train to continue on since you have customers on it looking to travel beyond Cambridge…it looks like we’re facing a long wait at Cambridge based on other service cancellations and delays

That is, unfortunately, correct. There's a safety inspection to the tracks affecting services between Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage. Once you get to Cambridge, there should be a Great Northern service continuing up to Ely at 18:18. However, we are planning some contingency in case this service is affected. I would suggest you contact us closer to the time you get off the train. ^Silva

@GNRailUK Ely…but the train you told us would be ready to pick us up is still at Kings Cross and is itself best part of 30 minutes delayed…and the driver is saying there’s also a track fault causing the congestion…

@RRemainer Hi Nick. This service has been delayed and cancelled after Cambridge due to a fault on the train, so you should be able to continue your journey north. What's your final destination? ^Silva
