By the end of Senator Graham’s speech, I was ready to run through a wall. And I had no doubt we were gonna win. This confirmation was my formative experience in politics, and Senator Graham’s speech was the most important moment. I worked for then-Chairman Graham in the next Congress. He was a loyal and patriotic Republican who consistently rose to the occasion, as his 2018 speech showed. He was our most aggressive judiciary chairman in overcoming Dem confirmation obstruction. And even on issues where he and I disagreed, I had no doubt he always wanted what was best for America. Any financial institution doing business in the United States should take care to comply with our regulations and guidance, including pursuant to Executive Order 14331. Nobody should want to live in a world where you lose access to common transit carriage, housing, bank-card payments, telecommunications services, etc., on the ground that some complicit or risk-averse executive bowed to activists shopping an ideological blacklist. The key is to fiercely maintain the norm that such services are viewpoint-agnostic; TelCo provides cellular service to your household without being “held accountable” for your politics, and that’s a good thing. There can be confusion around individual instances of alleged debanking — sometimes services are disrupted for an unrelated reason and people infer the worst. Without commenting on whatever happened in this individual case: An easy way to dispel those inferences is for governments, banks, et al to maintain firm public commitments to free speech.

(Goldman Sachs) — $110,376,701 🔴 Likewise Conceptions LLC — $3,500,000 STEP 2: ALLEGED LAYERING Those funds were then allegedly routed through six nonprofit organizations: 🔴 $167,540,000 to People's Support Foundation Ltd., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established with a hotel address in 2017 in Chicago and Singham's wife, Evans, on the board. 🔴 $68,748,701 to Justice and Education Fund Inc., a 501(c)(3) established with a UPS Store address in 2018 in New York City with self-avowed communists, including Manola De Los Santos, on the board. 🔴 $22,440,000 to People's Forum Inc., a 501(c)(3) established in 2017 on W. 37th Street in New York City with Evans and De Los Santos on the board. 🔴 $16,760,000 to Tricontinental Ltd., a 501(c)(3) established in North Hampton, Mass., in 2017 by Singham friend and fellow Marxist ideologue Vijay Prashad. 🔴 $1,330,000 to CodePink Women For Peace, a 501(c)(3) established in 2009 in Marina Del Ray, Calif., by Singham's wife, Evans, and her friend, Susan Medea Benjamin. 🔴 $1,098,000 to Breakthrough BT Media Inc., a 501(c)(3) established in New York City in 2020 at the People's Forum headquarters with longtime American communist leader Brian Becker's son, Ben Becker, as editor-in-chief of its pro-communist propaganda outlet, Breakthrough News. STEP 3: ALLEGED INTEGRATION According to the reporting, those organizations then distributed funding and support into a broader activist network that included: 🔴 People's Welfare Association 🔴 ANSWER Coalition 🔴 Party for Socialism and Liberation 🔴 Numerous organizations operating across Sub-Saharan Africa, Central America, North America and other regions. Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas seeking bank records and financial documents as they determine whether criminal charges are warranted. A grand jury investigation is an investigative process, not a finding of guilt. Because American politicians and social media are often accused of “bashing” Britain or amplifying algorithm-borne dystopia narratives, I felt a responsibility in this speech to take a nuanced and honest position on “da yookay.” Here’s what I actually said: that basically, while you can’t gainsay these headlines, nor should we doom-spiral about them — particularly to a point where we forget the character and achievements that have always made Britain great. Amusingly, the Guardian article (which purports to push back on polemic from a foreign political figure, I guess) feels considerably *more* polemical and disingenuous. In the end this speech was a love letter to Britain, and it was gratifying to see it received as such.

The Guardian quotes Max Wilkinson, a Lib Dem home affairs spokespman, and Stella Creasy, a backbench Labour MP, saying these claims by @UnderSecPD about "Da Yookay" are "conspiracy theories". But which one of these claims is untrue? "In ‘Da Yookay’, you can be remanded without bail for an inflammatory tweet, while a psychopath who seizes a three-year-old and feeds him to crocodiles walks free. “In ‘Da Yookay’, the moral sense of jurors won’t save you, because jury trials for speech crimes are abolished. "In ‘Da Yookay’, a girl can escape from a rape gang, flag down a police constable and discover the cop is in league with the rapists. “In ‘Da Yookay’ you get a free car for pretending to be disabled. "In ‘Da Yookay’ cops defer to a murderer who calls his victim racist. Then they handcuff you as you bleed to death if you’re white.”
