If you have to hire a grooms assistant for your wedding, its either of these 2 things. 1. You're a useless friend that your friends don't see you worthy of service, or you don't turn up for them. 2. Your friends are useless or forming faux big boy that they don't know that the actual big boys are those that turn up for their friends to make sure that things go well. I have done RSVP at my friend's induction, packed chairs, fetch water from a distance to ice drinks, gone to get drinks and served drinks. My friends did same at my induction.
